We are only 46 days away from the 91st Academy Awards, and we still have no host. Weeks after Kevin Hart was initially announced, the comedian dropped out when homophobic remarks he made resurfaced. As a result, the Academy gave him an ultimatum: apologize for those remarks or step down so they can find a new host. Hart chose the latter. And in an effort to give him another chance, Hart went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the actor refused to apologize for his remarks and made himself out to be the victim. As was previously reported, one option was for the Oscars to have no host this year. And now, that is beginning to look more and more like a reality. According to new reports the Academy will forgo having a host, a move that has not been made since 1989. More on the report below.

The Directors Guild of America hands out their annual awards to recognize the best in directing achievements. Often times they will tell us who will be nominated or even win the Academy Award for Best Director. As such, many of the big names that were highly praised for their efforts are being rewarded with nominations. Some first timers like Bradley Cooper and Bo Burnham earned nominations, while other well-seasoned directors like Alfonso Cuaron and Adam McKay earned nominations of their own. | Writers Guild Association Nominates ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Roma,’ ‘A Quiet Place’ |

The Writers Guild Of America has announced its list of nominees for the best in writing in 2019. Among those nominated are Roma, A Quiet Place, and Eighth Grade for Best Original Screenplay, while Black Panther, A Star Is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk were nominated for Best Adaptive Screenplay. Other nominees include Fahrenheit 11/9 for Best Documentary Screenplay, while Spider-Man (PS4) was nominated for Best Video Game Writing. Check out the full list of nominees here below.

| 2019 Golden Globes Winners: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Gets Big Win
On Sunday night, Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg hosted the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which was broadcast live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Los Angeles, CA, on January 6, 2019. Many films walked away with nothing, but Green Book snagged a few, while Bohemian Rhapsody won best film drama with its star Rami Malek taking home best actor for his leading role as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences figures out the hosting complications they’re dealing with, they’ve announced shortlists of potential nominees for the 91st annual Academy Awards ceremony in nine different categories. The categories we now have shortlists for are Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Visual Effects.
