Oscars 2019: Producers Eyeing The Avengers To Help Save Hostless Academy Awards

Oscar producers have found themselves to be a in a little bit of trouble this year. In December. Kevin Hart was hired to host. But when the comedian’s controversial jokes resurfaced, and it was apparent that he would not apologize for them, he stepped aside. Now with the show just weeks away from broadcast producers are considering going through the show without a host, but not before throwing one heck of a Hail Mary.
One option that’s looked likely is the Academy bringing in multiple A-list celebrities to introduce segments, and according to new report, the cast of the Avengers movies could be among those who show up to save the day. While this wont be like any other previous show, it may avoid a repeat of the 1989 cavalcade of comedy and musical skits. More on the report below.

Hostless Oscars Looking More and More Likely

We are only 46 days away from the 91st Academy Awards, and we still have no host. Weeks after Kevin Hart was initially announced, the comedian dropped out when homophobic remarks he made resurfaced. As a result, the Academy gave him an ultimatum: apologize for those remarks or step down so they can find a new host. Hart chose the latter. And in an effort to give him another chance, Hart went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the actor refused to apologize for his remarks and made himself out to be the victim.
As was previously reported, one option was for the Oscars to have no host this year. And now, that is beginning to look more and more like a reality. According to new reports the Academy will forgo having a host, a move that has not been made since 1989. More on the report below.

Oscars 2016: Predictions For The Acting Awards Categories
|
 |

On Sunday night, Hollywood will get together for its biggest party of the year, the 88th Annual Academy Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars. The night promises laughs, shocks, and plenty of controversy as for the second straight year all 20 acting nominees are white. With comedian Chris Rock hosting, expect some jabs directed at the Academy.
I love the Oscars, even when I hate them. Movies are my passion and the biggest night in movies has become a holiday akin to the Super Bowl. Every year, I try earnestly to see all the films nominated for top honors, and I went over and beyond this year. Not only did I watch all 8 nominated films, but I watched 19 of the 20 of the ranked Oscar performances (sorry Charlotte Rampling). Since this is my first of several Oscars 2016 columns to come, I thought it best to start in the same way the big show begins… no sorry, not with a huge musical number. Nearly every year, they open the awards distribution with a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Last year, JK Simmons accepted his trophy for playing the deliciously malicious orchestra leader in Best Pic nominee Whiplash. Simmons, much more resigned than his ferocious role as Fletcher, encouraged everyone to call their moms.
So without further ado, let’s introduce the Best Supporting Actor and Actress nominees, and then move on to the Best Actor and Actress nominees. I’ll tell you who will likely will win… but more importantly, who I think should win.
