GOP Seeks Headbanger For President; Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Answers The Call

Dave Mustaine announces presidential bid

Disgusted with the rich empty suits currently in the running, the Republican Party is now looking to the world of heavy metal for the right candidate to put up as leader of the free world. RNC Chairman Reinhold Reince Priebus was quoted today, April 1, 2012, as saying, “We like Ted Nugent because he’s into guns and stuff, but Dave Mustaine is really the perfect combination of extremist vitriol and worldwide appeal. I mean, Megadeth is really popular in other countries, so it’s like a no-brainer.”

The guitar-wielding wildly-maned Mustaine responded immediately to the call of duty by putting in his bid for election. “Well it’s about fucking time the world sees what greatness I have to offer it,” the Megadeth frontman said. “I mean, America would be so lucky to have me as President because I’m the only one who knows what the fuck is really going on around here.”

$.99 Digital Comics: Which Titles To Get In The Joker’s April Fool’s Day Sale

Joker Sale

Comixology announced on Saturday that they would be offering a 3-day sale over April Fool’s weekend where the digital versions of several different Batman-related comic books featuring the horrible and sometimes hilarious antics of The Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker, would be discounted to only $.99 each.

The Joker is a character that’s probably on par in popularity as Batman and Superman, and he’s absolutely the most iconic villain from comics, and that’s with good reason. The Joker has been all over the map in his tenure as a super villain from murdering people with laughing, or tuberculosis gas depending on your interpretation, to stealing diamonds, to trying to copyright a fish, to becoming a detective in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s apparent death after he reformed himself into a total psychopath. Seriously, the Joker’s done it all, and that’s one of the reasons comic book fans love him so much. But there’s one thing to remember, he’s killed a lot of people. So while this weekend is the weekend for pranksters, let’s hope no one you know starts pranking anyone in the way the Joker would. Seriously.

Anyway, now that the disclaimer’s out of the way, let’s get to what Comixology is actually offering you in this deal, shall we?

DC ReRelaunch: DC Comics Announces ‘New New 52’

DC Re-Relaunch banner

In a desperate attempt that’s sure to surprise everyone in the comic book community, DC Comics is planning a RE-relaunch of their entire line of comic books to boost sales and appeal to new readers with The New New 52.

The breaking news came not at this weekend’s popular Northwest convention Emerald City Comic Con, which DC decided to skip altogether, but rather from flyers handed out by costumed superheroes today, April 1, 2012, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ, to confused attendees of the Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within seminar.

And I’ve got to say that I’m utterly shocked by this recent turn events. Yes, it seems that the sales that were being reported on DC’s recent relaunch on their entire line of comics was not as spectacular as we all thought, as they’re going back to the well one more time and introducing a new line up of comics, and you may be surprised by the results as the comic titles released are not what any of us would have expected to see. In fact, most of the superhero comics are long gone and replaced with several unknown titles that are made to appeal to separate groups of the non-comics reading public. Sure, the mainstays are here, but that’s about it. So, are you ready to check out the new list that will be debuting in July? I hope you’re sitting down.

George Takei

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for ever since we heard Captain Sulu give the order to “Target that explosion and fire” in 1991’s Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Paramount Pictures announced today, April 1, 2012, a new Star Trek movie entitled Excelsior. The spin-off film will see George Takei return as Captain Hikaru Sulu to the bridge of the starship U.S.S. Excelsior.

Those involved with the film are keeping a tight lid on plot details, but Geeks of Doom’s sources have confirmed exclusively to us that the film will find Sulu and crew back to cataloguing gaseous planetary anomalies in the Beta Quadrant. Whether Sulu will give the command to fly the ship apart is still unknown, but with a movie like this, you can be sure that Sulu will give his catchphrase order of “Shields up!”
