Actor Robin Williams Found Dead [Updated]

Robin Williams

Robin Williams, a comedic jack of all trades who dazzled audiences for over four decades, was found dead of what sources believe to be a suicide*. He was 63.

For Williams and the generations who loved his absolutely every move, he leaves behind a legacy where for many, he was the king of his crafts. Weaning his inspirations from people such as Jonathan Winters, Robin Williams pioneered a sort of manic improvisation of Mack Truck coming at you at 100 miles an hour style of comedy that could make anyone laugh, hard. Just witness people like Johnny Carson, (and many others of Carson’s ilk and stature) to the every man, just in stitches at the craziness and what seemed intrinsic zaniness that emanated like running tap water from Robin Williams.

Marilyn Burns, Star Of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,’ Found Dead At Age 65

BAADASSSSS!   |

Marilyn Burns

Actress Marilyn Burns, best known to horror fans as the heroine of the original 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has been found dead at her home in Houston, TX, according to TMZ. She was 65 years old.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, but it has been reported that Burns was found by a family member.

One of the original scream queens, Burns’ gutsy performance as Sally Hardesty in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the film’s unsung virtues. The actress managed to convey genuine terror in its most harrowing scenes (though the squalid, brutal filming conditions probably played a big hand in that) and her lungs got the kind of workout that few horror heroines could match at their best moments. Chainsaw‘s shocking impact and box office success failed to catapult Burns to film stardom, but she still find roles regularly throughout the four decades that followed.

Dick Wagner, Guitarist For Alice Cooper, Lou Reed Among Others, Dies At 71

dick-wagner-1976

Dick Wagner, a guitarist who was a key figure in the early pre-punk and American glam movements, utilizing his talents for such luminaries in the music world as Alice Cooper, Lou Reed and KISS, has died at the age of 71 of respiratory failure. Wagner had been battling ill health for many years prior to his death.

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Wagner rubbed elbows later on after the first wave of hard rock music that came from that state’s seminal city Detroit, when Wagner was recruited to play on Alice Cooper’s seminal solo release, Welcome to My Nightmare, a record in which Wagner was heavily involved (with producer Ezrin) with Cooper, eventually sharing songwriting credits. (A highlight is the ambiguous and haunting “Only Women Bleed.”) The 1975 release became a benchmark in Cooper’s career and also showed the embryonic strains of a solo career that would stretch currently into its fourth decade. The muscle and confidence of Wagner’s playing (he had huge shoes to follow after Cooper had been in a band with Glen Buxton earlier, whose playing was signature up and down all over the band) put him as one of the mid-70s post Detroit-rock/pre-first wave of punk music’s heavyweights. In fact, for the next few decades following his successful debut foray with Cooper on record, Wagner became involved heavily with the shock rock singer thereafter, appearing on various subsequent albums and tours.

Legendary Actor James Garner Dies At 86

James Garner

Actor James Garner, who foraged a career in Hollywood that spanned multiple decades and included lauded work in film and television (particularly television), has died at the age of 86 of natural causes, reports the New York Daily News.

Possibly best remembered for two roles, in the 1950’s Western Maverick and the 1970’s show The Rockford Files — both of which showcasing Garner’s penchant for an easy going, low-key, yet charmingly cocky and witty demeanor, replete with one lines delivered as relaxed as swinging on a hammock in sun drenched Malibu — Garner shaped a style on both programs that not only would be utilized throughout his career, but that resulted in an endearment to millions of fans. There was a trust about seeing James Garner at work, a kind of folksy sort of Americana that struck a positive chord with the country in particular, and it allowed Garner to act in a multitude of situations, including memorable commercials he did with actress Mariette Hartley for Polaroid Cameras, an ad campaign which started around the mid 1970s, and again utilized the Garner formula, and helped to create a chemistry with Hartley that was so strong, many people assumed the couple was married.
