NYCC 2014 Spotlight: Little Girl Thor Cosplay

Little Thor cosplay banner

Events like New York Comic-Con bring out the cosplayers in droves and the costumes are typically eye-catching, fun, and imaginative, as you can see from our NYCC photo gallery. And it’s not only adults who pack the convention floor in colorful attire — it’s the children, too! Some of these kids would be the envy of all of their friends on Halloween, that’s for sure.

One such child we found was 6-year-old Samantha Fraczek Murray, who made her convention cosplay debut as “Little Thor” at this year’s NYCC. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl from Long Island, NY, not only rocked out a perfect costume, complete with the mighty Mjolnir, her Nordic features made her the perfect little Thor clone.

Check out our full photo gallery of Samantha in action at the Con — including being part of a massive Marvel cosplay group photo — as well as more on the story of how she came to be Little Thor, courtesy of her dad, who spoke with us about the whole experience.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams Secretly Walked Comic-Con Floor In Spider-Man Mask

Game Of Thrones Season 4 Finale Arya Stark

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was a big hit at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Audiences at gave her a warm welcome appeared on the panel for her hit HBO show, as well as when she was part of the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel in Hall H on Saturday. And when the filmmakers of The Last Of Us revealed at the Screen Gems panel that the 17-year-old British actress was in talks for the role of Ellie in the movie, the audience cheered with delight at the prospect.

So, Williams is definitely a fan favorite and a geek icon already at this young age, so you can imagine that she would get swarmed if she were to walk the convention floor at San Diego Comic-Con. So, the young actress did what most celebrities have to do — walk the floor masked and blend in with all the other cosplayers.

SDCC 2014: Preview Night Photo Gallery

Comic-Con Preview Night Photo Gallery

I was nearly eaten alive by zombies, singed to a cinder by Smaug, stuffed & mounted by Norman Bates, and gassed to unconsciousness by body odor, but somehow, I lived to tell the tale… of PREVIEW NIGHT!

Gone are the days where preview night at San Diego Comic-Con was a quiet pre-convention affair for those lucky few to take in the sites and sounds before the throng of geek society overran the show floor. This preview night was as madly packed as I’ve ever seen the convention floor on its most attended days gone by, and that’s a wonderful thing.

I couldn’t remotely get to see everything I wanted to in those few preview hours, but I made the most of my time, and narrowly avoided my demise on more than one occasion.

Check out my preview night photo-journey after the jump.

Dazzler and Galactus cover header image

Over the last several years, Comic Book Girl 19 has been plenty busy: she’s cemented herself as YouTube’s authority on Game of Thrones, expanded into podcasting, blown us away with her cosplay (her Robocop costume won Best in Show at Dragon*Con 2013), and she recently hosted her own Ted Talk.

So what’s left for everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed, pink-haired comic book fanatic to tackle in 2014? She’s rocking her own calendar.

Continue below for more and to check out a preview.

C2E2 2014: Convention Report & Photo Gallery

C2E2 2014 Convention Sign header

It’s been awhile since I have gotten the chance to hit up one of the local conventions, 2 years since the last C2E2, and a few more till San Diego Comic-Con. But things worked out this year and I was able to head down to Chicago to check out one day of C2E2 on Saturday, April 26.

You can check out our photo gallery from the convention here below, including several of cosplayers, as well as cover of some of the panels, including the 20th anniversary of the film, The Crow.

The first thing that hit me as we arrived at the convention center is the fact that this Con has really grown in the past few years, and that meant being moved to the other side of the convention center. It may not be anywhere close to the scale of SDCC, but I have admit that it’s giving Wizard World a run for its money, although it has been a few years since my last visit as well, and hopefully I will check it out in August.
