| 6 Must-See (And Drink) Cocktails Inspired By 2011’s Top Video GamesVideo games? Booze?! Go on, I’m listening…I’m listening. 2011 saw some incredible video games released (mostly in that small chunk of fall when bunches of them were raining down on us), but what can make a great video game even better? Why, an adult beverage concocted in the name of these very same games, of course. The Guardian’s Games Blog reached out to James Dance, owner of the video game bar called Loading and master of the mixological arts, to create some cocktails for six of 2011’s top video game titles: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, L.A. Noire, Portal 2, and Batman: Arkham City. Continue on below to check out the recipes for each of these wild creations, as well as images of what they should look like!

| SDCC 2011: Tons Of Cosplay Photos From The Convention Floor |

After spending three straight days cooped up in the dark expanse of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con covering all the upcoming movie goodness, I finally was able to hit the convention floor and meet with all the awesome Attendees-in -Tights who made their way to the mega-con Mecca. Lemme tell you, this is one of my very favorite parts of the Con. I absolutely love walking up and down convention scoping out all the convention goers festooned their super finery and saying ‘Hi, do you mind if I take your photo for Geeks of Doom.’ The reactions vary anywhere from “Huh? Where? Sure!” and “Cool, I know you guys.” to “OMG!OMG!GEEKSOFDOOM!YES!YES!… O M GGGGeee!” Overall, everyone is always so gracious and cool. I did my best to capture a wide array of the homespun heroes who packed the convention floor. The ingenuity and uninhibitedness of cosplayers never ceases to amaze me. Some of my favorites were the Witch-King from Lord of the Rings, a sweet old-school Cylon, a super low-rent Han Solo in Carbonite, who I met on the footbridge in town, and an awesome lady Loki. Special geek props to the Father/Daughter Jedi (heartwarming) and the Oogie Boogie and Sally (spiffy!) duos. Ooo, and right as I was heading off the main convention floor for the last time I met a dude dressed in an amazing Hawkman outfit who as it turns out had also recently written and directed a five-minute short Hawkman film which you can find here. Anyhoo… babes and dudes in leather, latex, cardboard, and shiny-shiny to follow after the jump. Enjoy!

| ‘The Guild’ Creator Felicia Day To Star In Live-Action ‘Dragon Age’ Web Series |
Everyone knows Felicia Day as the creator of the ultra-popular web-series, The Guild, and as one of the great Geek Goddesses of this Earth of ours. She’s also known from her work on things like Joss Whedon’s hit show and musical Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Now, after offering her voice to a role in Fallout: New Vegas, Day is stepping back into the realms of video games. It’s been announced that the actress will star in a six-episode web series based on the highly successful BioWare titles Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. The live-action series, titled Dragon Age: Redemption, will also be set in Ferelden, where Day will play an original character named Tallis. Of her character, Day said “Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor,” she says. “I wanted to bring a modern sensibility to a fantasy character in a fantasy world.”

| The Geeks Of Doom Guide To Geeky Halloween Costumes |
We at Geeks of Doom love Halloween. The smell in the air, the leaves changing color to mark the occasion, and all of the old edited horror movies playing over and over on your TV make it one of the most entertaining and exciting times of year. Back in 2006, we compiled a list of some of the best geek costumes on the market for those of you who do not yet have an idea as to what you want to be. It’s already been three years now, so we thought it was about time to compile another epic list of costume options for the undecided (which includes myself). While checking these costumes out, keep some things in mind — most importantly: pretty much every costume that you see will have multiple styles of varying price and quality. The majority of the ones we have here are in the $30-$50 range, but you can find really high-quality “Deluxe” versions of the costume that will run you in the $100-$200 dollar range. These are for the folks who have money to spare and love authenticity. If you’re out of your freakin’ mind, there’s even Batman and Darth Vader costumes that will run you $700+ dollars. If you don’t like the one we’ve linked to, just search the character and check out all of the others that exist. Most costumes have children’s versions available, too. We’ve included some great kids’ costumes, but if you find an adult one you’d like for the little ones, just search it out! Also worth keeping in mind: a lot of these costumes have female counter-costumes that would be perfect for couples looking to match up. Oh, and it won’t be stupid like going as a plug and an electrical socket. Tee-hee. Many, many costume options were found for men, women, children, and pets, so please continue on and check some of them out!
