‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ Players Pay Their Respects To Carrie Fisher (Videos)

Fans of Carrie Fisher have been mourning the loss of the actress in various ways, such as attending lightsaber vigils.
For some gamers, there was no need to go anywhere in the real world. Many people who play the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic jumped into that game world, and visited Castle Organa—the ancestral home of House Organa, including Fisher’s Princess Leia, located on the Apalis Coast of the planet Alderaan—to pay their respects. One player even created a character that looks like Leia to be there for the many visiting fans. And some of the players’ characters were considered enemies to House Organa, forcing them to fight through NPCs just to join in the memorial, which they did. Friends and enemies alike stood together in honor of the fallen princess.
Below you can find multiple videos of players gathering at Castle Organa.

Photographer Gives Heroes and Villains Renaissance Makeover (Images)

Imagine your favorite comic book, movie, and fairy tale heroes and villains if they existed during the Renaissance. What might a painted portrait of them from those times have looked like?
Wonder no more. Photographer Sacha Goldberger was part of an event in Paris recently where these iconic characters—including Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, The Hulk, Darth Vader, Catwoman, Princess Leia, Joker, Superman, Snow White, and others—were photographed with a decidedly old school look to them, creating a fascinating set of Renaissance painting-style cosplay images.
You can check out a bunch of the images below to see how some of your favorites would have looked in a different time.

Disney Store Responds To ‘Star Wars’ Fan Petition #WeWantLeia

Now that Disney owns LucasFilm and its Star Wars franchise, fans assumed that the mega corporation so keen on merchandising would induct Princess Leia into their pantheon of princesses and let the merch flow. But nope. In response to a fan inquiry on Twitter last month, the Disney Store said there that “are no plans for Leia products at Disney Store.”
This didn’t sit well with fans, many of whom feel the franchise focuses more on Jedi toys for boys, as opposed to anything geared towards girls. The backlash came in the form of the hashtag #WeWantLeia accompanying a petition launched by fans. Enough noise was made that now Disney has switched gears and says they will have items that feature Leia, according to TIME.

The Princess Leia (Or Princess Vespa) Headphones You’ve Been Waiting For!

One of Princess Leia’s iconic traits in the Star Wars universe is her dual-bunned hairstyle. Many have worn it (or tried to wear it) since then, but now it can be so much easier and more useful than before.
JacquieLongLegs has created some Princess Leia headphones, which can be purchased right now on Etsy. And though these are Princess Leia headphones, there is no denying their being a nice replica of the headphones wore by Princess Vespa in Mel Brooks’ Star Wars parody, Spaceballs…which might make them even more fun to own.

Use The Force For Good: Celebs Re-Enact ‘Star Wars’ Scenes For Stand Up To Cancer
|
 |

Along with the release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray tomorrow, Lucasfilm has teamed up with eBay, Major League Baseball, and a number of celebrities to urge fans to “Use the Force for Good” and donate to Stand Up to Cancer, the organization that’s tirelessly funding research in the fight against cancer.
In their mission to bring in as much money as possible to fight this terrible disease, a handful of celebrities were brought in to make a video. In it, the stars—which includes Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Jaime King, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg, Emma Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson—re–enact various scenes from Star Wars.
You can see the video by heading below now. Might I add that it involves Miss Stone as Princess Leia? Because it does. Not Slave Leia, as I’m sure you all [I] wanted, but Leia nonetheless. For the rest of you, it also has Galifianakis as Leia…so there’s that, too!
