| Spotlight On Local: George Tabb, Punk OG Talks Books, Terrorism, and Rock N’ Roll |

It’s been nearly 20 years since I last spoke to or heard from George Tabb. His voice over the telephone sounds substantially raspier than I remembered. “You have to have your life go horribly wrong to want to do punk rock,” he says, and if that’s the case, then Tabb is punk as fuck. A nice Jewish boy from Brooklyn, NY, Tabb moved to Greeenwich, CT when he was just 7 years old. This may have marked the beginning of his road to ruin. He didn’t get along with his father and was bullied by the local kids for being Jewish. “The kids there had no idea what a Jew was. They would search my head looking for horns or think I drank baby blood,” says Tabb of the experience. As Tabb got older, he moved to Tallahasee, FL to go to college. Things weren’t much better there. “My college roommate’s father was the Imperial Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan,” notes Tabb. However, Tabb would soon find an escape, playing in his first punk rock band in 1979.

No matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, it’s always nice to see the U.S. Presidential candidates take a break from all of the seriousness to appear on comedies. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have already been making their late-night talk-show appearances throughout the campaign, but the former stopped by for a visit on Zach Galifianakis‘ Between Two Ferns. This is a pretty significant moment (and by significant moment I mean that for Funny Or Die) as the very informal interview show is finally back after a long hiatus. Those familiar with the show will recognize the brand of humor that BTF delivers as host Galifianakis is known to ask very awkward and out of date questions. And this interview with Clinton is no different from the rest. Check it out here below.

So last week, as everyone in the world seems to know by now, Brexit happened. A portmanteaux of the words Britain and exit, the people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the economic zone of the European Union, or the EU. There are a lot of politics involved in Brexit, but frankly, we’re not so concerned with that. What we are concerned with is awesome, geeky stuff. And to that end, on her show Full Frontal comedienne Samantha Bee managed to create an incredibly new geeky term, “British Twitter,” and coupled it with one of our favorite imports here at Geeks of Doom, Doctor Who. Not only that, she was able to incorporate not ONE, but TWO of the many faces portraying our favorite Time Lord. The clip is just over two minutes and will probably make any and all U.S. fans of BBC America laugh — really hard. Try and keep the soda from streaming out of your nose.

A town hall debate today that included Republican frontrunners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, which was to have focused on what was referred to as “an attack on America’s core values,” took a strange turn when the two contenders actually joined together for a 40-minute rant about the dangers of the umlaut. Yes, you read that correctly. The umlaut. For more information, continue reading.

President Barack Obama made an appearance yesterday on The Colbert Report where the U.S. prez took over “The Word” segment of the show, rebranding it “The Decree.” Just before the President took Stephen Colbert‘s seat behind the desk, he told the host, “You’ve been taking a lot of shots at my job, I decided I’m gonna go ahead and take a shot at yours.” In the segment, Obama took on his “Obamacare” healthcare detractors, reading off the script as if he were Colbert, to humorous effect. Watch the videos of Obama’s appearance on The Colbert Report here below.
