Blood Drive
Season 1 Episode 7: “The Gentleman’s Agreement”
Created by James Roland
Directed by Lin Oeding
Written by James Roland
Starring Alan Ritchson, Christina Ochoa, Thomas Dominique, Marama Corlett, Colin Cunningham, Andrew Hall, Darren Kent, Renee Castle
Syfy
Air Date: Wednesday, July 26th, 2017, 10pm Blood Drive on Syfy is television’s weekly foray into grindhouse madness. Last week there were Mad Max-style Amazon biker babes who used men as milk machines, you know the usual. Things came crashing down though for Grace (Christina Ochoa) whose entire motivation for joining the Drive was to rescue and help her sister Karma (Alex McGregor), found out Karma died initiating a rebellion that created the female-dominated society in the desert. The range of of emotions shown by Ochoa was fascinating. Usually such a sarcastic stone-cold badass, the episode ended with her heartbroken to silence as Arthur (Alan Ritchson), ever the steadfast and stoic good guy, tried desperately to reassure her things would get better. Getting better, is staying alive in the Blood Drive and defeating Heart Enterprises. Check out my review of Blood Drive Episode 1.7 “The Gentleman’s Agreement”: SPOILERS BELOW…

The Strain

Directed by J. Miles Dale
Written by Liz Phang
Created by Chuck Hogan, Guillermo del Toro
Starring Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Richard Sammel, Jonathan Hyde, Miguel Gomez, Natalie Brown, Ruta Gedmintas, Max Charles, Rupert Penry-Jones
FX
Air Date: Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, 10pm Warning! Spoilers below for last night’s episode of The Strain! Last week on The Strain, it is a new world in New York City after Zach (Max Charles) set off the nuclear bomb in anger at his father, Eph (Corey Stoll). “The Partnership” now rules over their human slaves. Eph does side jobs for survival, but when he is captured, decided to join the cause with the people that rescued him. Fet, Quinlan, and Charlotte (Kevin Durand, Rupert Penry-Jones, Rhona Mitra) were in search of a nuclear missile, and may have found the answer in Roman, a fellow captive (not Quinlan – he showed up after they freed themselves). The Master (Jonathan Hyde) continued to believe in Zach’s potential, despite Eichort’s (Richard Sammel) protests. Spoilers below.

Preacher
Episode 2.6 “Sokosha”
Directed by David Evans
Written by Mary Laws
Created by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen
Starring Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Gianna LePera, Graham McTavish, Tom Brooke, Ian Colletti, Julie Ann Emery
AMC
Air date: Monday, July 24th, 2017, 9pm Spoilers below for last night’s episode of Preacher! Last week on AMC’s Preacher, our three motley heroes faced different challenges. There was no dodging unkillable cowboys from Hell or hunting down God. Last week was about Jesse (Dominic Cooper) making a decision whether or not to kill Viktor (Paul Ben-Victor) aka Tulip’s husband. Jesse was fueled by jealousy and revenge. Tulip (Ruth Negga) could only stay back and hope Jesse didn’t cross the line and as usual, Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) was stuck between his rock and her hard place. Jesse made the right call, letting Viktor live after signing divorce papers, and the trio appeared back on track. Unfortunately for everyone involved, especially Viktor, The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) made it to New Orleans and is one step closer to getting his Preacher once and for all. Check out my review of last night’s Preacher below.

Season 1 Episode 6: “Booby Traps”
Directed by Roel Reiné
Written by Ben Wolf
Created by James Roland
Starring Alan Ritchson, Christina Ochoa, Thomas Dominique, Marama Corlett, Colin Cunningham, Andrew Hall, Darren Kent, Renee Castle
Syfy
Air Date: Wednesday, July 19th, 2017, 10pm First off, apologies on the lateness of this one, I was in a hotel with poor channel selection and no wifi. But alas, I was excited to get home and catch up on the craziness I missed on last week’s Blood Drive on Syfy. Last week, Grace (Christina Ochoa) had to bail out Arthur (Alan Ritchson) after a sex plague took over the Blood Drive party. Slink (Colin Cunningham) managed to escape torture and death several times, and as payment to Grace planned a stop on this week’s drive for her to get her sister back. Meanwhile, Christopher (Thomas Dominique) and his new $20 million machine eye are officially working for Heart Enterprises, but his cyborg-dominatrix girlfriend Aki (Marama Corlett) doesn’t realize (yet) that he’s an inside man. This week, the Drive continues… Spoilers below.

Game of Thrones
Episode 7.2 “Stormborn”
Directed by Mark Mylod
Written by Bryan Cogman
Starring Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Alfie Allen
HBO
Air date: July 23, 2017 WARNING: Spoilers for HBO’s Game Of Thrones…. Last week’s Season 7 premiere of HBO’s Game Of Thrones opened with the mass yet justified murdering of the men of House Frey at the vengeful hands of Arya Stark. It was a long-awaited, satisfying moment for the series, but it didn’t set the stage for the rest of the episode, which was calm in comparison. We saw Bran and Meera finally make it to The Wall, while nearby the White Walkers were marching south. At Winterfell, the new King in the North Jon Snow pardoned the treasonous bannermen that had fought with the Boltons — he needs as many men — and women — as he can for the coming battle against the dead. Because as we learned right away from this season, Winter Is Here. Sansa Stark has learned over the years to be more ruthless and less trusting from her wicked captors — Cersei Lannister and Ramsay Bolton — and sly mentor Petyr Baelish, and wants Jon to be so as well, but he’s not willing to go that route. Meanwhile, Cersei, now the self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, demanded that House Stark come to King’s Landing to bend the knee to her (which they won’t). In King’s Landing, there was tension between Cersei and her twin/lover Jaime Lannister, which only increased after the arrival of Euron Greyjoy, who wants a marriage alliance with the new Queen. In Old Town, Samwell Tarly was close to discovering how to defeat the White Walkers; we also saw that Jorah Mormont is there as well, alive but still infected with Greyscale. Finally, Daenerys Targaryen and her allies — and dragons — made it Westeros to her ancestral home of Dragonstone, where she is ready to begin planning her takeover.
