Gambit is just one of those X-Men spinoffs that has yet to enter production. The film has been in the development stage ever since they found Channing Tatum to play the title role. But one of the major problems is that the project has been unable to lock a director down. Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman were both tapped to helm during separate occasions, but both left for their own reasons. However, it’s beginning to look like Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski might be the one to steer the ship. More on the story below.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes
Blu-ray Combo Pack
Director: John Erick Dowdle
Screenwriter: John Erick Dowdle, Drew Dowdle
Cast: Bobbi Sue Luther, Samantha Robson, Ivar Brogger
Distributor: Scream Factory
Rated R | 86 Minutes
Release Date: October 10, 2017 The Poughkeepsie Tapes, a found-footage horror film directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine and As Above, So Below), made its premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. The film was picked up by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and scheduled for a 2008 theatrical release – you may even remember seeing trailers for the movie before Frank Darabont’s The Mist. In spite of the promotional advertising, the docu-thriller was removed from the studio’s release schedule. For years, the only way to watch Dowdle’s movie was a rough cut available on file-sharing sites. In 2014, however, the movie was given its first official release as a video on demand (VOD) title available through DirecTV. A month later, it was removed from the VOD platform for reasons unknown. As a result, the movie has gained an underground following as being something akin to a snuff film, so violent – so dark and disturbing – that it isn’t suitable for mainstream audiences. Enter Scream Factory, Shout Factory’s sub-division of forgotten horror and science-fiction films, who are giving the film its first proper home video release.

This past weekend, Ash vs Evil Dead took over this year’s New York Comic-Con. The Starz series proudly displayed their season 3 premiere date, 2/25/18, on a sign by their fan experience. That was set up outside the Javits Center the entire 4 days, allowing fans to walk through a replica set and create GIFs of them fighting deadites. On Saturday, they took to Hammerstein Ballroom, where stars Bruce Campbell, Dana DeLorenzo, Ray Santiago, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, and Lindsay Farris treated fans to a special sneak peek of the season 3 premiere and conducted a panel discussion and Q&A. They were back at Javits later in the day signing autographs and taking photos. The highlight for me was joining a press roundtable where we got to speak to the cast members of the series about their experiences on the upcoming season. Check out the interview with Bruce Campbell here below.

If you had no idea what was going on in midtown Manhattan this past weekend, you might be very confused. Why were those girls painted green? Why does that guy have a giant sword made out of aluminum foil and cardboard? New York Comic-Con (NYCC 2017) welcomed hundreds of thousands of people to the Jacob Javits Center, and with events spilling over to Hammerstein Ballroom, Madison Square Garden, and even the Schwarzman Library, the cosplayers were out and about and in style. Check out the cosplay images from NYCC 2017 here below.
