The New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival took over the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ this weekend for three days of scary movies, celebrities, cosplay, and more. While much of the fun was held in the convention and ballrooms downstairs, two viewing rooms were set up on the second floor for special screenings, as well as for film festival entrants. I took time to catch a block of short films, as well as a screening of a horror film that had been on my radar for a long time. More below.

The Barn
Director: Justin M. Seaman
Screenwriter: Justin M. Seaman
Cast: Mitchell Musolino, Will Stout, Lexi Dripps, Cortland Woodard, Nikki Darling, Nickolaus Joshua, Linnea Quigley, Ari Lehman
Distributor: Nevermore Productions
Not Rated | 90 Minutes I was super excited to finally get a chance to check out The Barn at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. Emanating from the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ, the convention spanned the weekend featuring celebrities, horror movie reunions, cosplays contests, and screenings of new and old horror films. The Barn debuted last year and played the one night I could not attend the New York City Horror Film Festival. I toured the floor at the NJ Horror Con and found their merchandise table, where writer/director Justin M. Seaman and Director of Photography Zane Hershberger were sitting. These guys know how to sell a film! With a poster that feels cut and pasted out of an 80s video store, they have DVDs, VHS tapes (!!!), stuffed dolls of the three lead villains, board games, hats… you name it. The only question that remained was, is the film good? Simply put, The Barn is a killer good time. More below.

It’s hard to deny the absolute charm of Pitch Perfect, and because the first film was so successful, we got a trilogy. Though the second one was a somewhat flawed installment, it still had that hilarious chemistry between the cast. But the upcoming third promises to be the end of the Bellas, at least the ones that started this cinematic a cappella journey. A new trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 just hit the web, and it reminds us of why this musical ensemble is not only hilarious, but also musically infectious. Check out the latest trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 here below.

This past weekend, the Garden State became a true state of horror as the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ hosted the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. Fans were lining up an hour before the doors opened as Father Evil greeted them. The convention floor stretched for several rooms of the beautiful hotel with vendors lining the halls throughout. Featured guests were stationed throughout, offering autographs and photos to eager fans. Like many conventions, photo-ops with the guests were available. Upstairs, there were two screening rooms; the larger dedicated to special film screenings and Q&A sessions, while the smaller hosted festival entrants, both full-length and short films. More below.
