As the Summer movie season comes to a close, it’s time to set aside our popcorn movies and head into the Oscar and horror seasons. It’s a good time to take a look at what the best Movies of 2017 so far are, and wonder what will still be on that list by the end of the year. As of now, I have seen 57 new films this year, and am on pace for a record number of movies. I’m not exactly sure what my record is, but I think the mid 70s is a good guess. As always, that includes any movie I see for the first time, so the easiest first cut, is all of the older movies I see for the first time. And the process continues until I get only ten movies, and this year, I pretty much knew what the top movies were going to be. It was the end of the list that was the real issue. So, here’s a look at my Top 10 Movies of 2017… so far.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Drawing Blood’ By Kevin Eastman, David Avallone, and Ben Bishop |

If any of you are like me, you grew up watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, playing with the brand’s action figures, and reading the comics. But have you ever wondered what it was like for the creators of TMNT — or any other popular franchise for that matter — to hit it big in the comic book industry? What kind of stories do these guys have to tell from behind the scenes? In Drawing Blood — a graphic novel written by one of TMNT‘s co-creators, Kevin Eastman, and that is currently running on Kickstarter — you’ll get to learn about some of these true stories, only set in a fictionalized world. Joined by comic creators David Avallone and Ben Bishop, Eastman’s Kickstarter for Drawing Blood has passed its goal of $75,000, and with only has a few days left, is now reach for some awesome stretch goals! I was able to chat with both Avallone and Bishop about the project, and am excited to share their experiences with all of you! Check out the interview here below, along with their video for Drawing Blood!

Back in 2006 director Adam Green made an homage to ’80s slasher horror with Hatchet, in the process creating a new unstoppable monster, Victor Crowley. A combination of Jason Voorhees and Cropsey from The Burning (1981), Crowley is a 7-foot giant with a noticeable scar on his face from the titular weapon who lives and hunts the bayous of New Orleans. He is played by the legendary Kane Hodder, famous for playing Jason in Friday the 13th Parts 7 – 10. Hodder returned to the swamp for Hatchet II (2010) and Hatchet III (2013) and last week in Los Angeles, Green held a surprise screening for the latest installment in the Hatchet franchise, titled Victor Crowley. Check out the teaser trailer here below from Dark Sky Films for Victor Crowley.

Game of Thrones

HBO
Air date: August 27, 2017 WARNING: Spoilers for HBO’s Game Of Thrones…. Last week’s Game Of Thrones was CRAZY! Winterfell sisters Sansa and Arya were seemingly at each other’s throats and it could turn deadly. Sansa ordered her protector Brienne of Tarth to King’s Landing in her stead to Cersei’s gathering. Tyrion commented to Daenerys that Jon Snow is in love with her, and she played coy at the idea. Beyond the Wall, Jon Snow and his group – Tormund, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, The Hound, Gendry, and Ser Jorah Mormont – were on a mission to abduct a wight to bring back to Cersei to prove that Winter has come and that the Night King is marching on them with his army of the dead. While they were at it, said army found them and surrounded them. It looked like this was the end (again) for Jon Snow, until Daenerys rode in on her dragons to save them! During the rescue, Viserion was killed by the Night King, who them reanimated the dragon to be part of his zombie army. On their way back to Dragonstone, Daenerys and Jon shared a moment that shows us that they are falling in love. Also, Jon swore fealty to her as his Queen, and she vowed to defeat the Night King.
