Film composer James Horner, best known for creating the original music scores to some of the biggest motion pictures of all time, died on Monday after a small aircraft he had been piloting crashed about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, CA. He was 61.

Neil Patrick Harris opened the 87th Annual Academy Awards Sunday night with that boyish smile, and a charming little joke about “Hollywood’s best and whitest, sorry brightest.” Then he burst into song. Eddie Redmayne won Best Actor for The Theory Of Everything with Julianne Moore taking home Best Actress for Taking Alice, while Supporting Actor went to J.K. The Oscars are upon us. Below are my picks of who I believe should win the major awards and my prediction on who I believe will actually win the major awards. Some of the categories that I find most interesting are accompanied by a few words that serve as my argument for that particular pick. The 87th Annual Academy Awards airs live Sunday, February 22nd, 2015, at 8:30pm ET on ABC, with the live Red Carpet arrivals starting at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
