Double Jumpers #2
Written by Dave Dwonch
Art by Bill Blankenship
Action Lab Comics
Release Date: August 29, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99
Double Jumpers #2, just like the previous issue, is a LOT of fun. Yes, it caters to the “geek” crowd, maybe a little too much at times, but it’s still a great read that’ll have you cracking a smile at least a half dozen times before you’ve finished the issue. Writer Dave Dwomch doesn’t let up in this second issue, he makes it as fast paced and entertaining as the first. While this book is 99 percent humor, it’s got some heart to it as well. In this issue, the characters really open themselves up and you see there faults, strengths, and you actually start to FEEL for them. More than just a laughable “I can’t wait to see how they screw up next,” Dwonch really puts some thought into where these people are going and where they’ve been. Some really good human story mixed with a TON of humor.

Double Jumpers #1
Story, Script and Letters by Dave Dwonch
Art and Colors by Bill Blankenship
Action Lab Comics
Release Date: May 30, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99
Here’s what Action Lab Comics say about there release of Double Jumpers #1: “The chaos begins after Jason and his team of programmers gets stuck in their own virtual reality game and must find a way to get back to the real world. Unbeknownst to them, the fantasy characters they inhabit have taken control of their bodies”¦ and now wizards and warriors run free in Las Vegas during the biggest videogame convention of the year!” Now, I have to admit, reading that description didn’t get me very excited, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the actual comic itself!! Writer Dave Dwonch knocks it out of the park with this book!!! The story is original, and so are the characters. Yes, they are a group of “stereotypical nerds,” but they’re really not stereotypical at all. By making them all high functioning nerds, he really makes the story more enjoyable. Moreover, this group of characters is under the gun, not just victims of circumstance like in other stories along this vein that I’ve read before. This comic is refreshing, new, original and TONS OF FUN!

| Comic Review: Space Time Condominium: Season One Space Time Condominium: Season One
Written and Art by Dave Dwonch
Action Lab Comics
Release Date: February, 2012
Cover Price: $14.95
Space Time Condominium starts with the premise of a man living with different versions of himself from across the multiverse and the story spins wildly out of control from there. It’s a webcomic written and illustrated by Dave Dwonch, with a new print version published by Action Age Comics. It is SO GOOD in so many ways, but misses the mark a few times. So, the story goes like this: A crisis is destroying the multiverse as a scientist named The Gate Keeper flees his timeline, that’s about to be destroyed, with a mysterious plan that involves gathering 5 different versions of a man named Griffen Griffens, builds a condo in a tiny pocket universe unaffected by the crisis, and have them all live together. Whew, what a sentence. Oh, and it’s a comedy!

EXO-1 and the Rock Solid Steelbots
Written by Shawn Pryor and Adam Besenyodi
Art by Daniel Logan
Action Lab Comics
Release date: February 29, 2012
Transforming robots and super-powered humans are what you can expect to find in EXO-1 and the Rock Solid Steelbots. Though it doesn’t have the most original idea, this graphic novel has a unique perk. Action Lab released EX0-1 and the Rock Solid Steelbots as a limited release with only 500 signed and numbered copies. Signed and numbered anything demands my attention as a collector of all things geek. That being said, I only wish the content within the book was as strong as the limited collection aspects of EXO-1 and the Rock Solid Steelbots. Almost every standard comic book staple makes an appearance in EXO-1 and the Rock Solid Steelbots. There are giant transforming robots, time warps, aliens, ordinary people infused with super powers, werewolves, ancient artifacts, and finally a ghost. It’s almost like the writing team behind this comic wanted to make 13 different comics but had to settle on throwing them all together into one.

Monsters Are Just Like Us
Written and drawn by Super Ugly
Action Lab Comics
Release Date: February 22, 2011
Cover Price: $12.95
Have you ever wondered about the habits and daily lives of monsters? Would you be surprised to learn that they engage in mundane activities just like the rest of us? Writer/artist Super Ugly has spilled the beans and given us an inside look at the everyday lives of monsters. Through the efforts of Super Ugly, we learn that Monsters Are Just Like Us. Monsters alternates between pages with text and hilarious pictures telling us things like “They never clear a paper jam, just like you!” and “They think ‘double-decaf, non-fat, no foam latte’ is coffee just like you!” My personal favorite is “They sing along with Miley Cyrus in the shower, just like you!” Unlike most books that show monsters rampaging and frightening people, Super Ugly shows monsters at work, at home, and at play.
