| NYCC 2017: ‘Cult Of Chucky’ Panel
For nearly three decades, a small red-haired doll has struck fear (and laughs) into the hearts of horror fans. Chucky is a “Good Guy Doll” and he’s you’re “friend till the end.” Of course, he’s likely to cause this end. Possessed by a voodoo curse from serial killer Charles Lee Ray, Chucky debuted back in 1988’s Child’s Play, written by Don Mancini, and starring/voicing Oscar nominee Brad Dourif as the main antagonist. Now six films and 30 years later, Chucky packed out room 1A06 last night at this year’s New York Comic-Con promoting the latest film, Cult of Chucky, out on Blu-ray this week.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment
Release date: October 3, 2017 I remember being a plucky young 6-year old when I first saw commercials for Child’s Play. Don Mancini‘s original story created a new horror icon, Charles Lee Ray, aka Chucky. A serial killer with a knowledge of voodoo, Chucky (Brad Dourif) was shot and near death in a toy factory when he transplanted his soul into a “Good Guy Doll.” For nearly 30 years, Chucky has found a place next to Freddy, Jason, and Michael as one of horror’s most prolific killers and sequel machines. With October upon us, Mancini brings us yet another foray into the world of plastic psycho monsters with Cult of Chucky, a movie so laughably ridiculous it actually borders on being legitimately good.

| New ‘Child’s Play’ Movie ‘Cult Of Chucky’ Teaser Trailer
A teaser trailer has been released for Cult of Chucky, the seventh movie in the Child’s Play horror franchise. The last time we saw the evil doll was in 2013’s Curse of Chucky, almost a decade after 2004’s Seed of Chucky. In the latest entry, Nica (Fiona Dourif) finds herself dealing with Chucky (Brad Dourif) once again, this time in an insane asylum. She’ll have help, with Chucky’s child target from the original Child’s Play Andy (once again played by Alex Vincent) returning, but so will Chucky, whose bride Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) is back as well. It’s not clear if the movie involves an epic tag team wrestling match in the middle of the asylum, but you know you’re hoping it does. Continue below to read a full synopsis for Cult of Chucky and check out the teaser trailer.

Child’s Play
Blu-ray (Collector’s Edition)
Directed by: Tom Holland
Written by: Don Mancini, John Lafia, Tom Holland
Cast: Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent, Brad Dourif
Distributor: Scream Factory
Rated R | 87 Minutes
Release Date: October 18, 2016 “Hi, I’m Chucky, and I’m your friend till the end. Hidey-ho!” Chucky, the pint-sized killer doll from 1988’s Child’s Play, is often mentioned in the same breath as slasher icons like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, but there’s something very unique about the denim dungaree-wearing antagonist in Tom Holland‘s film. While films like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street play on teenage anxieties, punishing high school kids for drinking, smoking marijuana, and having premarital sex, Child’s Play is fixated on the fears of small children. Five-year-old Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) is entranced by commercials for “Good Guy” dolls on TV. The ads play during a “Good Guy” cartoon series, which Andy watches while wearing his “Good Guy” pajamas and eating “Good Guy” cereal. The commentary on Reagan-era consumerism is hard to miss here. His mom, Karen (Catherine Hicks), a widow struggling to make ends meet, buys Andy a “Good Guy” named Chucky for his sixth birthday, unaware that the doll is a plastic prison for the soul of Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif), a serial killer and voodoo practitioner.

|
The sixth installment in the Child’s Play franchise, Curse Of Chucky went direct to DVD and Blu-ray on October 8, 2013, along with Blu-ray and DVD box set for Chucky: The Complete Collection, which contains all 6 Chucky films: Child’s Play, Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse Of Chucky. Chucky creator Don Mancini made an appearance today at New York Comic-Con, along with franchise stars Brad Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent (the original child, Andy, from Child’s Play), and Jennifer Tilly, at a panel moderated by Ain’t It Cool News founder Harry Knowles discuss the horror film series’ 25th anniversary. In the new movie, Fiona Dourif stars as a young women who receives a package containing the classic Chucky doll, which, unbeknownst to her, is possessed by the spirit of a serial killer. Brad Dourif, Fiona’s dad (who you’ll know as Wormtongue in the Lord Of The Rings films), has provided the voice for the murderous doll beginning with the 1988 film that started it all, Child’s Play. In Curse Of Chucky, the little red-headed doll is back to play again, and there will be blood!
