| Details Revealed For Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Sequel ‘Alien: Covenant’
A few months back, Ridley Scott announced that he would follow up his hit sci-fi film The Martian with Prometheus 2. Many had speculated that the sequel would have been the director’s next project, but he then confirmed that the film wouldn’t be called Prometheus 2; instead it would be titled Alien: Paradise Lost. The film put Neill Blomkamp’s planned Alien 5 in a very tough position, forcing the District 9 director to put his Alien film on hold. Spectre scribe John Logan was recently brought in to do some of the rewrites for the Scott’s sequel, and at the same time a rumor popped up that Alien: Paradise Lost would be getting a new title. Now, Fox has announced that the film won’t be titled Prometheus 2 or Alien: Paradise Lost, but rather Alien: Covenant. More on the story below, including the official synopsis.

| Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley Confirmed For New ‘Alien’; Will Be “Genetic Sibling” To First Two Films |
 |

When looking at the entire film catalog of the Alien franchise, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are the weakest of the four. So Neill Blomkamp hopes that his new Alien film will be something that can disregard those final two films, and be a proper installment by acting as a “genetic sibling” to the first two movies. Blomkamp amazed us all with the concept art that he released via Instagram, and the District 9 director then revealed that he could make the movie if he wanted to before it was eventually confirmed that he would indeed helm a brand new Alien film next. But it wasn’t clear whether Sigourney Weaver‘s Ripley character would be involved or not. While making the press rounds for Chappie, Blomkamp and film star Weaver talked about the new Alien and confirmed that the movie would feature Ripley after all, acting as closure to her story. Hit the jump for more and to see a video of the two talking about the movie.

| Neill Blomkamp Reveals Concept Art For Abandoned ‘Alien’ Project |
 |

Director Neill Blomkamp posted some gorgeous concept art to his Instagram page yesterday of an Alien project that he had been working on, but seems to have now abandoned. The Elysium director posted 10 pieces of concept art with descriptions, noting on the first piece of a xenomorph, “Was working on this. Don’t think I am anymore. Love it though. #alien #xenomorph” On another post, he said, “Woulda rocked. Was a mental stroll into the world Ridley Scott created.” There’s art for the Weyland Yutani headquarters, Ripley — one of which has her wearing the space jockey head gear — Hicks, the alien egg, the Facehugger, and more. But, with the last piece of concept art, Blomkamp, who’s next film is the lighthearted scifi film Chappie (due out on March 6, 2015), he wrote “….maybe I’ll go back to it ….love the world.” Check out here below the concept art for Blomkamp’s Alien project that would have been (and maybe still will be!).
