American Horror Story
Season 1, Episode 1 – Pilot
Directed by Ryan Murphy
Written by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk
Starring Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Lange, Jamie Brewer, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Denis O’Hare
FX
Air Date: Wednesday, October 5, 2011 10pm American Horror Story, the new series from Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, seems to be heading in a potentially interesting direction if the pilot episode is anything to go by. But I won’t be going along with them. First off I’m not exactly the biggest fan of Murphy (whose other crimes against pop culture include creating Nip/Tuck and writing and directing Eat, Pray, Love) or any members of the American Horror Story cast, including Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton (although she was good on Spin City and Friday Night Lights), and Jessica Lange. It’s a mixed bag of overrated talent that grates my nerves whenever any of them are on screen and it doesn’t help the actors that the characters they play are unsympathetic and the material dull and pretentious. By the way, this is supposed to be a haunted house story.

| American Horror Story: Delicious Dill Recipe
If you’re reading Geeks of Doom, which you should be because it’s great [*shameless plug*], you may have seen an article a couple of weeks back about a wedding cake sent to Doom HQ’s to promote an upcoming show on FX, titled American Horror Story, the first episode of which airs tonight. In that article, there’s a link to the show’s site where you can sign up to get free stuff and stuff. Well, I did sign up, and while I didn’t get a badass cake sent to me, I did get an email with a couple of pictures, one of which was a recipe for Delicious Dills (subtitled “No Friends like the old!”), so what the hell, it’s perfect for me and my Cooking Corner collection!

| Doom Delivery: ‘American Horror Story’ Bloody Garter Artifact |

On October 5, 2011, at 10/9pm Central, the new television series American Horror Story will debut on the FX network. It’s a horror genre show about a family that moves cross country to reside in what ends up being a house haunted by the spirits of some gruesomely slaughtered victims and, assumingly, murderers. If I wasn’t excited before, I definitely am now. This show is right up my alley. I love the horror genre and I have my entire life, so when I saw the first full trailer when I was at a movie recently, I totally fell in love. And then this article got published. Our site runners Empress Eve and Dave3 received a bloody wedding cake from these people! How cool is that!? But there was more to this story, the folks behind American Horror Story set up a site where you can register to receive artifacts from the terrible massacre that went down in this twisted house of horrors. Needless to say, I was all in.

| Watch The First 5 Minutes Of ‘American Horror Story’
If there is one thing that this Fall is going to be, it’s going to be chock full of scares, particularly in the world of television. With the likes of The Walking Dead returning, the biggest player this season may in fact be a newcomer, from a storied name in TV. Created by Glee‘s Ryan Murphy, American Horror Story stars Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, Taissa Farmiga, and Jessica Lange, and has been slowly building anticipation through cryptic teasers and even more cryptic viral marketing (like the bloody wedding cake delivered here to Doom HQ). The show features an awesome cast, so it has to be great, right? Well, if these five minutes are to be believed, then that statement is true.

| Doom Delivery: Living Room Artifact From ‘American Horror Story’ |
 |

On October 5, 2011 at 10pm, a new series will debut on FX called American Horror Story, which revolves around The Harmons, a family of three who move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The place they move into is a haunted house occupied by some very unpleasant spirits who terrorize them. Today, an extremely rare one-of-a-kind artifact was hand-delivered to me that provides a clue as to what’s going on in the house. According to the note attached, this Empress of Doom was one of seven people to receive a full room artifact, which means that an exclusive piece of the story is mine — all the memories, horrors, and unknowns now lie in my hands, waiting to be discovered (whoa, that’s heavy duty!). My room artifact is the Living Room and it’s a Wedding Cake — yes, a totally edible cake! See a bunch of photos here below of the fully edible wedding cake, which looks beautiful on the outside, but if you look closer, there’s a lot more than meets the eye. If you’re a horror fan, you’re really going to dig what you see. Go register at youregoingtodieinthere.com, which goes fully interactive on September 9, to gain exclusive access to the horrors and perverse mysteries tied to American Horror Story. Those of you who register through our link will have the chance to receive an actual Living Room-related artifact of your own; you’ll also able to upload artifacts relating to the Living Room to help piece together the mystery of the house.
