Legendary television writer Norman Lear recently renewed the overall deal he has with Sony. The deal is set to take Lear into his 100th year on this planet of ours. Variety published a feature about the 97-year-old Lear, but it was just a small part of that feature that set the ol’ internet on fire today. In it there is a quote from Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who says that some “very famous people” have approached Sony with hopes of remaking the 1987 fairy tale classic The Princess Bride, which was executive produced by Lear. You can see what he had to say below.

| Happy 30th Birthday WrestleMania III!
This is the biggest week of the year for wrestling fans as Vince McMahon’s titan of a company, WWE hosts its 33rd annual supershow, WrestleMania from Orlando, Florida. While I know Geeks of Doom doesn’t always cover wrestling; (I’d quit my job and write full time if it did), one cannot deny the crossover appeal of pro wrestling, pop culture, and geek-based entertainment. This is an industry that has spawned its own film company, and created some of the biggest stars in the world. Look no further than the highest grossing star in Hollywood right now, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. The Rock headlined wrestling’s Super Bowl 5 times and featured in some of the events greatest matches. Last year in Dallas, Texas at Cowboys Stadium, they set an indoor attendance record with 100,000 packed in, and wouldn’t you know who showed up with a flamethrower to commemorate the event… it was The Rock.

| Andre The Giant Documentary From WWE, Bill Simmons Coming To HBO
It was always a bit strange that no one had made a movie about the fascinating and sometimes heartbreaking life of wrestling legend and The Princess Bride star Andre the Giant. In May of last year, we found out that this might change with word that a movie was finally being developed. The biggest challenge with that project, of course, is finding someone to actually play the giant. Now comes word of another Andre project that’s on the way and doesn’t have to worry about casting someone to play the larger than life figure. It’s been announced that the WWE, HBO Sports, and Bill Simmons are teaming up to make a documentary simply titled Andre the Giant.

| Movie About The Life Of Andre The Giant Being Developed
Anyone who’s a big fan of 1987’s The Princess Bride has likely heard stories about pro wrestler Andre Roussimoff, better known by most as Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik in the movie. Whether it was Billy Crystal and Robin Wright, or Cary Elwes, or someone else, many great stories came from the making of the classic movie. And that was just one small part of the larger than life figure’s time with us. The more stories we’d hear about him, the bigger the question became: why hasn’t anyone made a movie about Andre yet? Now it appears this question won’t need to be asked anymore. It’s being reported that a movie about the life of Andre the Giant is currently being developed.

| Must Watch: ‘The Princess Bride’ Cast Reunites On ‘Good Morning America’ |
Just recently Entertainment Weekly gathered up the casts of some popular movies for their 2011 Cast Reunions issue, which included the cast of director Rob Reiner‘s 1987 timeless fantasy classic, The Princess Bride. And being that it happens to be my own personal favorite movie of all time, I eat this stuff up. So when I saw that Good Morning America also jumped on the cast reunion for their Totally Awesome ’80s Week, giddiness levels elevated. Stars Cary Elwes (Westley/The Man in Black), Robin Wright (Princess Buttercup), Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), Billy Crystal (Miracle Max), and Carol Kane (Valerie) were present to discuss the movie and tell stories from behind the scenes, including a very funny one involving the late Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik. You can see a video of the cast of The Princess Bride reunited on the set of Good Morning America by heading below now.
