Horror has always been Sam Raimi‘s bread and butter, but the Evil Dead filmmaker has stayed away from the director’s chair in recent years to produce a handful of titles. Legendary television writer Norman Lear recently renewed the overall deal he has with Sony. The deal is set to take Lear into his 100th year on this planet of ours.

Variety published a feature about the 97-year-old Lear, but it was just a small part of that feature that set the ol’ internet on fire today. In it there is a quote from Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who says that some “very famous people” have approached Sony with hopes of remaking the 1987 fairy tale classic The Princess Bride, which was executive produced by Lear. It looks like Greta Gerwig has found her next directorial effort following her Academy Award-nominated Lady Bird. According to new reports, Gerwig is in talks to direct a retelling of the coming of age novel Little Women.

The film looks to also feature a star-studded ensemble cast, with Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Florence Pugh, and her Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet all in talks for roles. More on the story below.
