| Anne Hathaway Cast In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’; Tom Hardy’s Role Revealed |
Warner Bros has announced that the role of Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) will be going to our national treasure Anne Hathaway, while Tom Hardy‘s role was revealed as Bane in the highly anticipated third and final installment of Christopher Nolan‘s vision of Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. When asked about the addition of Hathaway, director Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.” Nolan went on to give his opinions on Hardy as Bane, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” I am very excited by this news as Anne Hathaway has been one of my favorite actresses since I’ve been in high school, and I think she has unique characteristics that will be beneficial to the character of Selina Kyle, especially if we’re looking at a Long Halloween/When in Rome take on the character, which would not be surprising, considering that the team of Christopher Nolan and David Goyer have looked towards The Long Halloween as a major influence on their films.

| ‘Batman 3’ Official Title + No Riddler, No 3DThe third Batman film from director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception) is officially titled The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan revealed in a recent interview with Hero Complex. While Nolan remained mum over which of Batman’s villainous rogues would make an appearance in The Dark Knight Rises, he did confirm that it was not The Riddler, despite heavy fan speculation and widely circulated rumors. The rumors were fueled in part by the recent casting of Inception star Tom Hardy in an as-of-yet unnamed yet major role in the third film [Read “˜Inception’ Star Tom Hardy Re-Teaming With Christopher Nolan On “˜Batman 3′]. Nolan had previously revealed that Mr. Freeze was not in the running for villain either. | ‘Inception’ Star Tom Hardy Re-Teaming With Christopher Nolan On ‘Batman 3’ |
Fans have waited patiently as director Christopher Nolan took his break from Batman after The Dark Knight and made a little movie called Inception. The director did the same thing after Batman Begins with The Prestige, and this is just the way of Nolan’s world. But now that Inception has indeed come and gone, everyone is getting pretty anxious for things to get going on the next chapter in the DC Comic superhero’s dark new story, currently just being referred to as Batman 3. And today it would appear that our first casting has occurred. It’s being reported that Tom Hardy has been cast by Nolan for a major role in the next Batman. Unfortunately for us, it hasn’t been revealed what exactly this role will be, or even if it’s a villain or not. This is already starting to become an unpleasant new Hollywood habit, as we just saw with the casting Kevin Bacon as an unknown villain in X-Men: First Class and with Rhys Ifans as an unidentified villain in Spider-Man. Before we know it, every big casting will come with massive questions of who they’re playing in the movie they’ve been cast in.
