The Simpsons Big Trouble In Little China Mash-Up

The deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel today is a mash-up of Big Trouble In Little China and The Simpsons called “Big Trouble” by AndreusD.

The design went on sale at RIPT today, Friday, January 31, 2014, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.

The t-shirt is available in men’s (through 3XL), women’s, and youth sizes for $10 each. Kids sizes are $10 (Girls, Toddlers, and Onesies); Hoodies for $38 (in Men/Unisex sizes). See images on product page for shirt colors. You can also get the design on coasters for $25; prints 18″³x24″³ for $20 and 24″³x32″³ for $40; headphones for $40; laptop sleeves for $30-$40.

Big Trouble In Little China Lo Pan Express

The $10 t-shirt deal of the day over at TeeFury today is a Big Trouble In Little China-themed shirt called “Lo Pan Express” by manlyart.

Big Trouble in Little China

I guess we can all thank the 1960s for giving birth to the 1980s. When I look at most of the films, music, and literature made in the era of Reaganomics and legwarmers I can’t help but think that excessive drug use played a major role in it all. Granted the roads and hills running in and around Hollywood were covered with so much cocaine the city’s infrastructure closely resembled the snowy slopes of Switzerland, but it took a more powerful pharmaceutical product to grant those responsible for these cracked creative endeavors the delusion that what they were producing would never be seen as dated the moment it was released to the general public.

The music video for the titular theme song to the 1986 kung fu/horror/fantasy/comedy hybrid Big Trouble in Little China easily falls into that category. You can watch that video, which is included as an extra feature on the film’s Blu-ray, here below.

Jack Burton

There’s no doubt that John Carpenter‘s 1986 kung fu-action-comedy-horror-fantasy Big Trouble in Little China is a universally-beloved, genre-bending cult classic, or at least it should be (and boy do I love using dashes in my sentences). But doesn’t that plot seem more than slightly weird and overly complicated to you? It must have seemed that way to star Kurt Russell because his character, swaggering blowhard trucker Jack Burton, spends most of the movie in a state of confusion. One plausible explanation for Burton’s constant befuddlement could be that Russell never even saw a script, as the video you can watch here below makes a strong case for.
