
There’s no doubt that John Carpenter‘s 1986 kung fu-action-comedy-horror-fantasy Big Trouble in Little China is a universally-beloved, genre-bending cult classic, or at least it should be (and boy do I love using dashes in my sentences). But doesn’t that plot seem more than slightly weird and overly complicated to you? It must have seemed that way to star Kurt Russell because his character, swaggering blowhard trucker Jack Burton, spends most of the movie in a state of confusion.
