Back in May we brought you the news that writer/director Edgar Wright and his frequent collaborator, actor/writer/geek extraordinaire Simon Pegg, were at work writing the script for The World’s End, the third and final installment of their “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy than began with their 2004 horror-comedy classic Shaun of the Dead and continued with their hilarious 2007 action spoof smash Hot Fuzz.

Today comes the announcement that the movie has officially been given the green light to start production, and to commemorate the occasion Universal Pictures has release a teaser poster for the eagerly-anticipated film.

It’s hard to put into words just how good Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are. Because of this, fans of the movies have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the third movie in what’s often times called the “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.”

The movies aren’t connected apart from the never-fail combination of director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as their very basic recipe: take a popular genre (horror, action, _____?), introduce generous slice of comedic fried gold, and run wild with it. Oh, right, and a sprinkle of blood and ice cream to enhance flavor, of course.

While the movie isn’t officially underway yet, Wright and Pegg got together recently and snapped a photo to share on the Twitter that may just indicate brains are indeed storming. You can see the image below.
