It’s hard to put into words just how good Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are. Because of this, fans of the movies have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the third movie in what’s often times called the “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.”
The movies aren’t connected apart from the never-fail combination of director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as their very basic recipe: take a popular genre (horror, action, _____?), introduce generous slice of comedic fried gold, and run wild with it. Oh, right, and a sprinkle of blood and ice cream to enhance flavor, of course.
While the movie isn’t officially underway yet, Wright and Pegg got together recently and snapped a photo to share on the Twitter that may just indicate brains are indeed storming. You can see the image below.
Since Shaun and Hot Fuzz, the trio have become quite popular, as you may have noticed, which has made getting to this third movie all the more difficult to accomplish.
As you can see, the image is about as early a “production” photo as you can get…that is if they’re actually just starting to exchange ideas. They could have a nice well-rounded story already in mind and are just doing this to toy with our fragile emotions.
Rumors have been that the third movie would be an apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic movie, which would fit right into the title suggested below, The World’s End. Whether this is the genre they’ll explore next or not is to be seen, but I can’t think of a genre more exciting for Pegg and Frost to run around in, nor a better ending to the trilogy…if in fact it is the last of its kind.
