Joe Hill and showrunner Jami O’Brien wowed the crowd with clips and quips before letting the audience take over. The panel started off with the trailer for the exciting new series. | BookCon 2019: ‘NOS4A2’ This Way to Christmasland Experience
BookCon is an annual event that brings fans together with their favorite authors and works of literature. This year’s event just finished up at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, where one of the big focuses was on the upcoming AMC series NOS4A2, based on the 2013 novel by Joe Hill. Hill, the son of Stephen King, has published multiple bestsellers in the genre his dad helped reinvent. He was at the Con on Saturday night for a panel and Q&A alongside NOS4A2‘s showrunner Jami O’Brien. But if fans could not get into the panel room, they could go to the Christmasland display on the show floor and get gifts from Charlie Manx himself!

| BookCon 2019 Spotlight: Quirk Books
The Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC hosted this year’s BookExpo on Thursday and Friday and BookCon Saturday and Sunday, where publishers featured their books for media, educators, librarians, writers, and fans. While these two annual book events don’t bring in the massive crowds that NYCC does, they are being increasing more popular, with attendees swarming to pick up freebies, included the coveted ARCs (advance reading copy/advance review copy), as well as waiting in long lines to meet their favorite authors. Quirk Books, one of our favorite publishers, had a presence at the event, with author signings, tote bag giveaways, and free books. Below is a spotlight on some of their 2019 releases that we’re excited about.

| BookCon 2018 Panel: ‘Fight Club’ Author Chuck Palahniuk |
|
Earlier this month, BookCon came to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Midtown, Manhattan, where the floors were adorned with publishers, authors, vendors, readers of all ages, and even cosplayers! Like Comic-Con for the literature geeks, New York’s BookCon offered autograph signings, panel discussions, and Q&As all weekend long. Amongst the distinguished guests was acclaimed novelist Chuck Palahniuk. Palahniuk helped define a generation with his 1996 novel Fight Club, which then became a seminal film from director David Fincher in 1999 starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. He has authored countless other novels, short stories, and other works of both fiction and non-fiction literature, notably Choke, Survivor, Lullaby, Haunted, Fight Club 2, and Invisible Monsters. His style tends to cross the borders of the extreme and decent and his work is often considered “transgressional.” During the Con’s Saturday line-up, the author took to the stage to discuss his techniques, where he gets his crazy ideas, and his new book, Adjustment Day.
