BookCon is an annual event that brings fans together with their favorite authors and works of literature. This year’s event just finished up at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, where one of the big focuses was on the upcoming AMC series NOS4A2, based on the 2013 novel by Joe Hill.
Hill, the son of Stephen King, has published multiple bestsellers in the genre his dad helped reinvent. He was at the Con on Saturday night for a panel and Q&A alongside NOS4A2‘s showrunner Jami O’Brien. But if fans could not get into the panel room, they could go to the Christmasland display on the show floor and get gifts from Charlie Manx himself!
In the novel (title pronounced “Nosferatu”), soul sucker Charlie Manx kidnaps children off to Christmasland in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith. On the Javits Center main floor, fans waited to take pictures alongside a Christmasland set complete with Wraith, Manx, and his evil fanged children. Anyone who went to www.nos4a2.com/manx and took the Manx-selfie was then eligible to receive gifts.
I got a NOS4A2 journal and my wife got an ornament. The photo experience was a great way to promote the new AMC series, which premiered on Sunday night, June 2nd and plays every Sunday night at 10:00 EST. The show series stars Ashleigh Cummings as lead protagonist Vic McQueen and Zachary Quinto as Manx.
Check out our photos from the Christmasland experience here below in the photo gallery and check back here soon at Geeks of Doom for our coverage of the panel.
