As if the connected world wasn’t already suffering from enough information overload, Samsung has doubled-down with their smart HomeHub fridge, an appliance with an interactive touch screen larger than a standard iPad on display at CES 2018.
Wait a minute. They’re not doubling down. What’s the descriptor for the number 14? That’s right, they’re launching not two or five versions of their HomeHub fridge, but they’re launching 14. The idea here is that by 2020, Samsung wants all of its appliances to be not only IoT ready, but smart – and that’s where the title of this post comes in.

Here at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, North Hall is full of big concepts. Samsung uses the space to show off their latest VR Gear devices while Ford’s massive display allows visitors to sit in a virtual vehicle as if it were a cockpit. But the area isn’t full of hardware manufacturers alone.
Syfy, long a purveyor of the types of fantasy and space opera dramas that imagine the very types of technologies that we often see here at CES, has their own little booth. Promoting their latest space fantasy, the The Expanse, the Syfy Labs booth uses the latest technology to show how viewers can interact with their devices. The Expanse booth includes a VR station where passers-by can stop and experience some of the space scenes in virtual reality.
