Last year, Disney announced that they would be developing a live-action reimagining of Mulan from a script written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (We’re the Millers) will produce.

It comes as no surprise that Disney would continue to adapt their animated classics given the huge box office successes of Maleficent, Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book. And now the studio has confirmed that Mulan will be hitting theaters on November 2, 2018. More on the story below.

Disney adapting animated classics into live-action films has proven to be a very lucrative business model. With Cinderella grossing over $330 million worldwide in three weeks, and a live-action Beauty and The Beast, starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans, in the works, the studio has just announced that an adaptation of the 1998 animated film Mulan is currently under development.

THR reports that Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek have penned the script, and that the film will be produced by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (We’re the Millers).

Benderspink will be teaming with Wizard Magazine founder Gareb Shamus to option Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto‘s futuristic western The New West.

Palmiotti and Noto’s 2-issue story, that was published under Wizard‘s Black Bull Entertainment, took place during the not to distant future after an electromagnetic pulse was set off in Los Angeles, forcing a man to fight his way to save a kidnapped government official while only being armed with a horse and a sword. Which, if you ask me, is total unadulterated awesomeness.
