The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Header

Sony Pictures has been trying to keep The Amazing Spider-Man 2 footage in the dark from the general public and anything regarding the forthcoming sequels a huge secret. Sure enough there have been a couple of teases and hints that indicate that Spider-Man will face his greatest challenge: the Sinister Six. We already know that Jamie Foxx will play Electro and Paul Giamatti is the Rhino, with Chris Cooper and Dane Dehaan signed on to play Norman and Harry Osborn, respectively. As we can expect to see a condensed version of the footage that was seen at Comic-Con in the near future, more production photos from the film have been released, and one of them reveals – or teases – a nice surprise.

ComingSoon posted the photos today, featuring images from the film, as well as those from behind the scenes. Check out the photos here below.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Marc Webb‘s is well into production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Sony must like what they are seeing because they have announced release dates for The Amazing Spider Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4. This also shows the amount of confidence the studio has in this highly anticipated sequel. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in theaters May 2, 2014, which will be followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 3 opening on June 10, 2016, and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 opening on May 4, 2018.

Announcing these release dates only adds to the rumor that the studio wants to create a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe, and that each film will build up to the Sinister Six. We’ve already seen some photos of Jamie Foxx as Electro, and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino. Then there is the rumor that Colm Feore could be the Vulture. The sequel also has Chris Cooper playing Norman Osborne, who could end up being the Green Goblin. Finally there’s Dane Dehaan who plays Harry Osborne, who could also end up following in his father’s footsteps.

Chris Cooper

Academy Award-winning actor Chris Cooper (American Beauty, Adaptation) has signed on to play the nefarious Norman Osborn in Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, according to THR.

A pivotal character in the Spider-Man universe, Norman Osborn is president of Oscorp Industries and the alter-ego of Green Goblin. In Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Norman Osborn is briefly mentioned by Oscorp executive Ratha (Irrfan Khan) as “terminally ill” – which is why Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) has been experimenting with combining human and animal DNA – to create a cure.

Of course the serum Connors creates is ultimately his undoing, and the cross-species genetic experiments directly result in Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) becoming Spider-Man and Connors becoming the Lizard. It’s safe to assume that Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) will obtain their super-powers in a similar manner in Webb’s upcoming sequel.

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy Fire Back At Fox News’ Attacks On ‘The Muppets’

The Muppets

You can’t blame the good people at Fox News for feeling the need to stir up some outrage; their relentless campaign of disinformation against President Obama has made them pariahs among more respectable news outlets and the current crop of Republican presidential candidates isn’t exactly inspiring confidence that the GOP will take back the White House this Fall (in a recent Fox News poll 44% of their viewers now believe that Obama would win a second term if either Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich were the 2012 Republican candidate for President).

One of the network’s favorite targets has always been “liberal” Hollywood and how they want to impose their debauched lifestyles and depraved beliefs on the fragile young mindsets of young Americans and lay waste to traditional family values in an apocalyptic fire of legalized abortion and medicinal marijuana. Most of the time certain outspoken celebrities give the fuming news drones at Fox plenty of fuel for their bilious fury, but then there are other times when it’s obvious that they’re just grasping at straws.
