| Colin Trevorrow “Gender Imbalance” Tweet Reignites Tentpole Directing Controversy
It was almost a banner year for Colin Trevorrow. Following his Sundance film festival hit Safety Not Guaranteed, he came out with his second major directorial effort, this summer’s Jurassic World. The fourth film of the franchise beat Marvel’s The Avengers‘s record for the number one weekend opening film at the worldwide box office. He was then recently named as director of Star Wars: Episode IX. But now, the director finds himself in a bit of hot water after he attempted to address the issue of gender inequality in Hollywood. This has been an on-going issue, with many fighting for gender and racial diversity on the creative and performance front. In an attempt to explain this problem, Trevorrow has found himself on the receiving end of much criticism. After the jump see what he had to say, and how some are responding to his Twitter post.

| D23 Expo 2015: Colin Trevorrow To Direct ‘Star Wars Episode IX’
During Comic-Con in July, there was a report that Star Wars: Episode IX was to be directed by Colin Trevorrow. At the time, it was suspected that he would make an appearance to confirm the news during the panel at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday. No such news came, and some had thought that Disney and Lucasfilm would let Rian Johnson, or even J.J. Abrams return to direct. But now we can confirm that Trevorrow is indeed directing Star Wars: Episode IX. The announcement was made at the D23 Expo earlier today. While Trevorrow wasn’t able to make an appearance to talk about the project itself — heck Rian Johnson is still writing Episode VIII as we speak — the Jurassic World director was able to share some of this thoughts about taking on such an iconic franchise. Check out what he had to say below.

| Colin Trevorrow Talks ‘Jurassic World 2’ Plot
The success of Jurassic World has opened the door for bold new possibilities for the franchise. Though director Colin Trevorrow confirms he won’t be making a return trip for a sequel, he will be writing it. However, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to reprise their roles. With the film still out in theaters, the director isn’t quite done making the press rounds to promote the film, and has even gone as far as talking about the sequel. Universal has already dated Jurassic World 2 (or to some Jurassic Park 5) for a June 22nd, 2018 release, and while some may think it may be too early to go into the plot in great detail, Trevorrow is talking about how it may be more than just a film about “dinosaurs chasing people on an island.” More on the story below.

| ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel To Roar Into Theaters In The Summer Of 2018
I had a feeling Jurassic World was going to be a huge hit, but never in my wildest dreams did I suspect it would surpass The Avengers to become the third highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide. $1.522 billion in global office? Amazing. What doesn’t surprise me is that Universal Pictures has not only announced a sequel to World today, but they have also given it a release date of June 22, 2018. Colin Trevorrow, the indie filmmaker who brought a little life to the moribund franchise as World‘s director, will co-write the script with Derek Connolly. Together they wrote both the recent dino-tastic blockbuster and Trevorrow’s 2012 feature directorial debut, Safety Not Guaranteed.
