This year’s C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo) took place at the end of April, so once again, I headed into Chicago with plans to attend the event. Check out my rundown of the events of the day, as well as a gallery of some of the cosplay.

NYC 2016 Cosplay

After a few years of going to SDCC and then due to work and tickets being almost impossible to get, took a few years off, this year I was lucky enough to get a 4-day pass to NYCC. So, I packed my bags and headed to New York. I took tons of photos at the Con of the convention floor, panels, and, of course, the cosplay. Check it out here below in the image galleries.

For the most part, my whole time at New York Comic-Con focused around Doctor Who and other BBC America shows. I got to see a panel with a decent Q&A with Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and Alex Kingston talking about their time on Doctor Who. I was also able to make it to The Theater at Madison Square Garden for the BBC America showcase, including a early screening of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, which I really enjoyed and will be watching once the season starts in a few weeks. I followed that with a Class and Doctor Who panels, giving us little teases of the upcoming series and the Christmas Special for Doctor Who, all about the super heroes.

Harley Quinn Cosplay

Critical reviews aside, Suicide Squad is wildly popular, particularly the character of Harley Quinn as portrayed by Margot Robbie. She is much more than just the insane girlfriend of Joker; she’s standing on her own two feet as a fearless dissident with an iconic, unforgettable look (which many are imitating through cosplay).

With New York Comic-Con and Halloween coming up, throngs of people will be visiting costume stores to dress as Harley Quinn, but lucky for you, I’ve done all the research for you! I’ll be covering the con as HQ herself and have decided to review what I found on the road to NYCC.

An authentic, quality ensemble is at your fingertips, but you may have to act fast! October is almost here and time is running out. See below for my 7 Tips For The Perfect Harley Quinn Cosplay, complete with photos of me modeling the items.

NYCC 2015 Cosplay

“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy…”

This weekend the most diverse collection of individuals on our planet have gathered together in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for this year’s New York Comic-Con. And a group of our contributing GoDs — (Athena, Danny, Sarah, Max, Eve, and me, Dave3, to be exact) — are here to provide coverage of all the goings-on of NYCC 2015.

Among my favorite things to do is walk the convention floor, checking out all the goodies, meeting artists, creators, exhibitors, fans, and cosplayers. And of course, taking pictures along the way. And I spent the majority of today doing exactly that: perusing the aisles of the convention floor, taking in the sites, the sounds, and the smells of the ever-growing yearly Geekdom collective.

Today’s highlights include a run-in with the Baseball Furies from The Warriors, Princess Sparklefist herself Captain Marvel, and the amazingly amusing webslinger amalgam, Spider-Met!

Anyhoo, hit the jump and check out my photo galleries from today.

Con Report: San Japan: 8-Bit
Where: The Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center/Grand Hyatt Hotel,
San Antonio, Texas
When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 31st through August 2nd, 2015

As I reported last year, I’m a bit of a strange duck when it comes to anime conventions. I’ve never been into the panels or cosplay competitions, although I have a lot of respect for the people who put so much time and effort into their outfits, and in traveling the convention circuit. I especially had respect for the cosplayers and guests who were in San Antonio, braving the 99° late July and early August heat at San Japan: 8-bit, at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. I’m always looking for two things at an anime convention: The overall feel of the con, and of course, the opportunity to sit back in a room with a bunch of fellow otaku and soak up some anime. I’m happy to say that this con didn’t disappoint.
