| Disney In Depth: 23 Ways D23 Expo 2013 Could Rock
The clock ticks down until the Disney D23 Expo 2013 comes to fruition. In a matter of weeks the landmark third event will likely lure tens of thousands to the Anaheim Convention Center. Major announcements will be made. Special appearances are sure to happen. But what awaits is anyone’s guess. I have attended both previous expos, and I eagerly anticipate this next one from August 9 – 11, especially since I will be providing live coverage from the D23 Expo for Geeks of Doom! Here are 23 ways I think D23 Expo could drop some jaws, rock attendees’ minds and make improvements over previous events. Note: These ideas are purely my own, and should D23 Expo showcase any of these in action, I would know my ideas were not responsible for that decision. | Disney Gives Us New Glimpses At ‘The Avengers’ and More ‘Toy Story’ Shorts At D23
While the weekend doesn’t normally bring the largest amount of news, this weekend was far different. Thanks to Disney and their D23 convention, not only has the world seen new footage from the Marvel and Disney production The Avengers, but Pixar has also enlightened us with the premise for a brand new Toy Story short film. First, The Avengers was a major player at this year’s convention, as a new sizzle reel premiered, giving attendees a look at quite a bit of footage. | Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ Gets An Official Logo, Synopsis
For those who don’t know, director Tim Burton made a short film back in 1984 about a boy who loses his dog and brings it back to life called Frankenweenie. Now Burton is working on an adaptation of that very same short film (which can be seen here), this time using the stop–motion animation techniques used in other films Burton has directed or produced, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. And at the ongoing Disney D23 Expo, an official logo, synopsis, and special notes about the movie have been released.
