Skull-Face Island: Episode 13: Sinister

Hello There! This is Adam Frazier and you are listening to Skull-Face Island, the official movie podcast of Geeks of Doom! As always I’m joined by the Lap Dog of Dame Judi Dench, David Allen, and our lovable but dangerous, producer Tim Grant.
Today on the Show: We’ll discuss Scott Derrickson‘s new supernatural horror film starring Ethan Hawke, Sinister, and follow-up on our discussion about remakes from last week with news about upcoming reboots of Evil Dead and The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
For our third segment, It’s October (I think?) on Skull-Face Island and you know what that means? Breast Cancer Awareness 5Ks? Good guess. Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Delicious, but no. Halloween? YES. Horror movies? DOUBLE YES! In celebration of this most grand and festive of months, we’ve decided to do a TOP FIVE list of our favorite horror films!

Skull-Face Island: Episode 11: The Master / Looper
|
 |

Greetings! This is Adam Frazier and you’re about to shipwreck yourself on Skull-Face Island, the official movie podcast of Geeks of Doom!
As always I’m joined by “Quiz Kid” Donnie Smith’s Orthodontist, David Allen, and Daniel Plainview’s Personal Milkshake Maker, producer Tim Grant.
Today on the Show: We’ll discuss Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, The Master, as well as Rian Johnson’s futuristic sci-fi film, Looper. We’ll also be joined by our trusty (somewhat rusty) robotic butler MAR-10 as he brings us such news topics as Marc Webb returning to director The Amazing Spider-Man 2, David Gordon Green‘s connection with a potential reboot of Little House on the Prairie, and some juicy details on the upcoming Prometheus Blu-ray release!
After we’ve dissected The Master and Looper, listen as the three of us work together in a deadly game of movie trivia of the Gods’ choosing in order to satiate the bloodlust of the mighty Tu’Challa, a savage beast whose love of pop culture knows no bounds.

Greetings! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and it’s time for another transmission from Skull-Face Island. As always I’m joined by former FREE SAFETY for your GOTHAM ROGUES, David Allen! And last week’s co-host, this week’s producer, and next week’s messiah… Tim Grant.
Today on the Show: We talk about Craig Zobel’s latest film, Compliance, as well as William Friedkin’s Killer Joe, starring Matthew McConaughey. We’ll also find out just where in the HELL David was last week and flip the switch on the Geek-O-Matic News Machine. This week’s discussions include Y: The Last Man, Viggo Mortensen as Dr. Strange and all kinds of fun stuff!
Also, we’ll play The Sequel Game – and if we sound sleepy and drunk that’s because we are. Tim bartered two seasons of Felicity to the natives for some 217-proof Skull-Face Fire Water that had us all experiencing hallucinations of polar bears and smoke monsters.

Skull-Face Island: Episode 07: Lawless Victory

Greetings! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and it’s time for another transmission from Skull-Face Island. As always I’m joined by Oroku Saki, David Allen — wait a second… where the HELL is David?
Guys, I hate to break it to you, but David is missing – he was last seen down by the lagoon with a fishing pole and a pack of Marlboro Reds. Producer Tim Grant and myself tried to find David before this week’s transmission but alas, we didn’t have enough time to coordinate with the natives and organize a proper search party. I’m sure he’ll turn up eventually…
Being as David is probably somewhere whistlin’ the theme to The Andy Griffith Show, Tim pulls double-duty this week as producer and co-host, so you’ll get to hear him butcher names and slur his speech as he drinks Dale’s Pale Ale and curses my name under his breath.

Episode 05: ParaNorman Osborn
Rum. Curaçao liqueur. Lime juice. That, my friends, is a Mai Tai – a delicious cocktail I’ve been enjoying down by the beach for the past couple of days. Hello folks, it’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and I’m currently listening to Stephen King audiobooks while sipping from an bottomless pitcher of Mai Tai.
Tim Grant is busying carving a canoe out of a single solitary piece of wood and David Allen is down by the lagoon painting watercolors and waxing poetic on the brilliance of James Gunn’s Slither to the natives.
If you missed our previous transmissions, let me explain how this works. In the year 1991, US Flight 1313 experienced a mysterious, magnetic anomaly somewhere over the South Pacific. Engines failed, pilots cursed and prayed to their Gods, and three boys (that’s us!) washed ashore on Skull-Face Island, which of course is an ISLAND in the SHAPE of a SKULL! How cool is that!?

Episode 04: Champagne With My Campaign
Hello! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and it’s time for another transmission from Skull-Face Island. David Allen, Tim Grant and myself haven’t slept in days – we’re too busy watching the 25th Anniversary of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. I mean seriously, how can you afford to sleep knowing there’s Grade-A programming like this being broadcast over the airwaves? Hey, speaking of sharks…
“Sometimes that shark looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a shark is he’s got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn’t even seem to be livin’… until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then… ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin’ and the hollerin’ those sharks come in and… they rip you to pieces.” — Quint, Jaws

Episode 03: Total Recall / Bourne Legacy
Hello! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and welcome to Skull-Face Island! Last week we participated in the 20th Annual Skull-Face Island Olympic Games, where Team USA took the Gold in Ribbon Dancing, Pterodactyl Hang Gliding, and Freestyle Napping. As expected, the natives dominated in Interpretive Animal Sacrifice, Coconut Bowling, and of course, the 100m Velociraptor Dash.
Needless to say, David Allen, Tim Grant, and myself are exhausted. We’ve been replenishing our precious bodily fluids with copious amounts of fruit smoothies and frozen daiquiris thanks to Tim’s capacity for building state-of-the-art blending apparatuses out of scrap metal and tree bark.

Episode 02: Safety Not Guaranteed
Hello! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and welcome to Skull-Face Island! It’s been a busy week here on the island. Tim Grant, David Allen, and myself are currently representing the United States in the 20th Annual Skull-Face Island Olympic Games.
Forget that ‘every four years‘ noise, we compete every summer – yeah, put that on your Subway sandwich, Michael Phelps. Of course, we only have about five events and our only competition is a bunch of blood-thirsty (but fun-loving) natives and an all-Dinosaur Dream Team – but still, it’s serious business.
