Jaw–Dropping 15–Minute ‘BioShock Infinite’ E3 Demo Released To The Masses

Remember back in September, when Irrational Games and 2K released a beautiful 10–minute gameplay peek at their 2012 prequel title, BioShock Infinite?

Since then””with such a long wait in front of us at the time””the game has remained relatively quiet. Even at the recent E3 convention, what the man behind it all, Ken Levine, brought to show off was kept securely behind closed doors for the most part. Yes, we got a very tiny glimpse and some info on the game being compatible with PlayStation Move, as well as word of an original PlayStation Vita BioShock game, but we didn’t get to see what those people saw behind those closed doors””the very same footage that scored BioShock Infinite an embarrassment of convention awards.

Now, we see what they saw. The 15–minute E3 gameplay demonstration for BioShock Infinite has been released online, and it’s a wild, wild ride. You can see it for yourself by heading below now!

Demo #5 (of 6)
Written by: Brian Wood
Art & Cover by: Becky Cloonan
Letters by: Jared K. Fletcher
Vertigo
Price: $2.99
Release Date: June 3, 2010

Brian Wood is a master at characterization. I don’t know what it is about him, but he seems to be able to capture the essence of a character in one issue where it takes many others entire trades to accomplish the same. This is best seen in his series Demo and is definitely captured in the latest issue titled “Stranded.” Not only is the characterization spot-on in this issue, but it also gives the main character a power that I love: time travel.

The story covers Elisabeth, who is very different and alone for more than one reason. As I mentioned before, she has the power to time travel, but the other reason is a little more real to life. Elisabeth’s problem caused her to have problems with her father and leads her to make decisions she regrets later in life, but that’s okay because she has decided to change all of that using her power.

Comic Review: Demo, Vol. 2 #1

Demo Vol.2, No. 1Demo Vol. 2 #1
Written by Brian Wood
Art by Becky Cloonan
DC/Vertigo
Price: $2.99 Release date: February 3, 2010

I generally like Brian Wood‘s writing, I generally like Beck Cloonan‘s art, and I generally enjoyed the first series of Demo stories that the two creators released a few years ago, so I was looking forward to the new volume of stories.

Unfortunately, I was not blown away by this particular issue. If you’ve never heard of Demo before, the basic pitch is that the stories are about normal young people who discover they have super-powers. Volume 2 Issue #1 deals with a young woman who thinks she may be able to see into the future through her dreams, and decides she has to try to save someone she saw in one of her visions.

One of the things that made the first series stand out was that while the stories may have super-powered elements in them, they were really about the characters in those stories. One problem with this issue is that there wasn’t much effort put into making the reader care about the main character.

Get It While It’s Hot: ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ Demo Footage!

The Movie God   |  @   |

The story isn’t 100% clear yet, but apparently some lucky chap got their hands on the demo for long-coming Final Fantasy XIII. The user streamed themselves playing the demo on Justin.TV for as long as he could, and a decent amount of demo footage is now all over the Inter-webs.

Personally, I’ve never liked the Final Fantasy games. It could just be ignorance on my part, but the idea of players actually taking turns trying to kill each other instead of just having at it…well, that just pisses me off thinking about it. One thing no one — including myself — can deny, is how amazing the games have been visually. Final Fantasy games have always set the bar for graphics, visuals, and landscapes at unbelievably high levels, and this one doesn’t look to have walked away from those standards. Coming from me, a non-fan, trust me when I say, this game looks really beautiful.

I have no idea how long these videos will stay available to watch, so jump at it immediately. I’ve included a much higher quality version video which shows a few minutes of pre-game movie footage, as well as the first two or so minutes of the demo. After that, there’s also a few videos which hold a hell of a lot more footage, including gameplay! Might I suggest watching the first high quality version to get an idea, and then skipping ahead on the next video to where you left off.

Click over to watch away!
