| Charlie Cox To Play Daredevil In Netflix’s Marvel Series
While Netflix’s 13-episode adaptation of Marvel’s Daredevil may have recently lost a showrunner in Drew Goddard, who will instead focus on directing the Sinister Six movie, the project is moving full steam ahead with word of the series’ star. It’s being reported that Charlie Cox has been cast in the lead role of Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who also fights crime as the Man Without Fear. Cox is best known as the male lead in Matthew Vaughn’s Neil Gaiman adaptation, Stardust, and as Owen Slater on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Other titles he’s appeared in include The Merchant of Venice, Casanova, and Stone of Destiny.

| Has Drew Goddard Left Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Netflix Series?Yesterday saw the crushing news that Edgar Wright won’t be directing Ant-Man, what is to be the first film in Phase Three of Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe. Now, Latino Review has an exclusive report that Drew Goddard will no longer be working on Daredevil, the Marvel/Netflix co-production that will be one of four new Marvel live-action series coming to the streaming service. No word yet on why Goddard, who directed and co-wrote Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods, has left the project and no official announcements have been made.

| Drew Goddard In Talks To Direct ‘Sinister Six’ Spin-Off Movie For Sony Pictures
As The Amazing Spider-Man 2 approaches its release date in less than a month Sony Pictures is intensifying their plans to put out a Spidey-related feature each year (as we reported here) by finally signing a director for their Sinister Six spin-off movie that would focus on an epic teaming of the Marvel-ous web-slingin’ superhero’s greatest villains. Back in December it was revealed that Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard had come on board to write and potentially direct the film. Now it looks as if Goddard is officially being given the director’s chair on the still-gestating project which may not see a theatrical release until after The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is set to open on June 10, 2016.

| Sony and Marvel Developing Venom and Sinister Six Solo FeaturesSony Pictures’ long-term plans for its blockbuster Spider-Man franchise have been getting bigger with each week that brings us a new image, trailer, or poster for their upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Last week alone we were treated to a new banner poster and first trailer that revealed Marvel Comics’ classic arachnid-powered superhero (Andrew Garfield) would be taking on at least three new villains in Electro (Jamie Foxx), the Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and most unexpectedly Spidey’s old friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) suiting up as either the Green Goblin or a Goblin-like baddie of some variation. Early reports indicated that the events of Amazing Spider-Man 2 would be setting up the first appearance of the super-villain collective the Sinister Six in a future sequel.

| ‘LOST’ Writer and ‘Cabin In The Woods’ Director Drew Goddard To Write Netflix’s Daredevil Series
Recently we found out that Netflix and Marvel were joining forces to produce four new live-action series for the streaming service based on four different comic book characters, each running 13 episodes and then concluding with the four joining forces to create The Defenders in a special miniseries. One of the four characters—the most recognizable, thanks in part to a certain Ben Affleck motion picture—is Daredevil, the “Man Without Fear,” who was blinded in an accident when he was young, heightening his other senses to superhuman levels. Now, according to sources, a writer has been found for the series. It’s being reported that LOST writer/producer and The Cabin in the Woods writer/director Drew Goddard has entered into negotiations to pen the series.
