| Edgar Wright Reportedly Left Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Over Major Script Overhaul |

News of Edgar Wright leaving Ant-Man shocked the internet world and geeks all around this week. On Friday evening, both Wright and Marvel Studios made a joint announcement that the director would no longer be a part of the project. Since production is to commence in a few weeks and Marvel is sticking to their July 2015 release, a new director will be named in a matter of days. But for Wright, who has been writing the project for the better part of eight years, to suddenly pick up and leave just weeks before the start stirred up some interesting speculation. Rumors ranging from an overdue delay to a bleeding production started to arise. But how is it that the man who has written the script for the film and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige having complete faith in could come to such a terrible conclusion? | Edgar Wright Will No Longer Direct ‘Ant-Man’ For Marvel Studios
This week started out pretty good for Marvel Studios with the extremely positive response received by the latest trailer for their big summer flick Guardians of the Galaxy that was released on Monday. Now that it’s Friday, we’re getting one of the worse pieces of Marvel-related news imaginable. Action-comedy filmmaker extraordinaire Edgar Wright has departed Marvel’s upcoming Phase Three kick-off film Ant-Man as director. Wright has been attached to directing the film long before the studio became a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. But just as principal photography was gearing up to begin, the universally adored British director behind such classics as Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World decided to split with Marvel “due to differences in their vision of the film,” or so a joint statement issued by Wright and the studio claimed.

| ‘Insidious’ Star Patrick Wilson Joins ‘Ant-Man’ Cast
Another actor has joined Ant-Man, the upcoming addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe from director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End). It’s being reported that Patrick Wilson, star of Insidious, The Conjuring, and Watchmen, will appear in the movie, though who the actor will be playing has not been identified as of yet.

Edgar Wright will be making his full-fledged entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Ant-Man begins filming later this year for release two summers from now. The universally-adored Hot Fuzz filmmaker recently announced that he will be bringing a pair of old friends to serve in important roles behind the scenes. First up, Bill Pope will be Ant-Man‘s director of photography, and his name should be familiar to lovers of fantastic cinema the world over. Pope’s past credits as cinematographer include Army of Darkness, The Matrix and its two sequels, and both Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. He also served as DP on Wright’s last two films, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and The World’s End. Pope is one of the best cinematographers of dynamic action working in the film industry and his experience with capturing large-scale superheroics with vibrant style and color makes him a natural fit for Edgar Wright’s latest splashy extravaganza.
