HulkTim Blake Nelson spoke to MTV recently about sequels to this summer’s The Incredible Hulk, his part as the villain The Leader, and what the Hulk himself Edward Norton‘s future may hold.

Nelson is currently directing a movie called Leaves of Grass, which stars Norton, so he says that they’ve discussed it a little, but he’s kind of just a spectator who’s excited to come back and hoping that Edward Norton will be joining him for the party.

He explains:

Well, I’m signed on to do “˜Hulk 2′ and “˜3′ whether Edward’s there or not, so it’s not even up to me. When I agreed to do “˜Hulk,’ I signed off for two sequels, so it’s a moot question. I certainly hope Edward is on the sequel “” but that’s up to Marvel and Edward.

Incredible Hulk
Blu-ray Edition
Directed by Louis Leterrier
Starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt
Universal Home Entertainment
Release date: October 21, 2008

I was never one to bad mouth Ang Lee’s Hulk film from a few years back, at least the first two thirds of it (I’m not a fan of the film’s ending), but I know a lot of people hated it, and I can understand that. So, with so much dislike going around, Marvel decided to pretend that the earlier film never happened, and create the second movie, The Incredible Hulk, in their plan to bring the grand Marvel Universe into theaters.

Breaking away from serious auteur Lee, Marvel went with director Louis Leterrier, most famous for directing Transporter 2, not exactly the most thought provoking of films. While this may not be as deep a character study as Lee’s film was, Leterrier does manage to make at least an interesting film. This is more of a nuts and bolts plot driven film, with the famous Dr. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) on the run from General “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt). However, Ross is unable to capture Banner, so he enlists the help of elite soldier Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), but when Blonsky isn’t up to the task, he gets a little boost in the form of the super-soldier serum. But, of course that eventually goes horribly wrong, and Blonsky turns into the Abomination, leading to a great battle between the Hulk and the Abomination in the middle of Harlem. All the actors in the film do a decent job, although Liv Tyler is a bit of a letdown as Betty Ross, but Edward Norton is fantastic as Bruce Banner, and really brings a unique feel to it.

HulkUniversal will release a special 3-disc edition DVD and Blu-ray of Louis Leterrier‘s The Incredible Hulk will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 21, 2008.

The release is packed with bonus features and here below you can watch two videos from DVD/Blu-ray.

The first clip is a deleted scene that has Edward Norton as the fugitive Dr. Bruce Banner opening up to his old girlfriend’s new boyfriend, psychiatrist (played by Ty Burrell). Some of you might remember this fireside scene, where it seems as though Banner might reveal the secret that he’s the Hulk.

The other clip is a “Making of” featurette that shows Tim Roth in action as Major Emil Blonsky, Banner’s nemesis who turns into the Hulk’s opponent The Abomination.

The 3-disc special edition features over 2 hours of bonus footage including an all-new alternate opening. Check out the list of all the bonus feature from the release here below.

Will Edward Norton Ever Hulk Up Again?

HulkIt was, in my opinion, the best portrayal of a superhero this year, but it looks as if Marvel is once again going to shortchange actor Edward Norton. The man who played Bruce Banner, aka, The Hulk, in the incredibly (teehehe) successful The Incredible Hulk, has suggested that Marvel won’t have him back.

Norton said that “the minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque. I won’t say they’re obtuse, but I don’t have any idea what they want to do.” He also noted that he is being kept thoroughly in the dark concerning Marvel’s plans for him, and whether they will want him in The Avengers movie Marvel is planning.

“They’ve got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters,” said Norton, who appeared a bit skeptical of Marvel’s ambitious plans for the project. “Who knows where they’ll go?”
