Whoever said that enormous, bug-eyed, drooling monsters can’t be your friend? If you were the kind of kid who stayed up for hours at night imagining such a scenario, then Eric Powell‘s Chimichanga is the book for you.

The book centers around the precocious young Lula, a bearded girl who lives at a financially troubled circus. After encountering a witch in the woods, Lula discovers what she believes to be a pretty rock, but in fact is a large egg. On her way home, the egg hatches, revealing giant monster which she names Chimichanga. The creature becomes fiercely loyal to Lula, trains with her, and eventually joins her at the circus.

Eric Powell has been a busy man as of late. Last week it was announced that his amazingly awesome epic The Goon had gone digital and now MTV has debuted the first look at Powell’s new Goon spin-off miniseries Buzzard.

Buzzard will be a three-issue miniseries set in The Goon‘s universe that focuses on a former sheriff who now craves flesh! But not the kind of flesh you may assume. The Buzzard man was originally the sheriff of a town where all the inhabitants went all George Romero on him and started craving brain pancakes for breakfast. Buzzard himself was spared of the Left 4 Dead syndrome until he meets a mysterious Priest, who cast upon him a spell that intended to turn the sheriff into a zombie but instead achieved quite the opposite: a near-immortal man who must consume the flesh of the dead.

The Goon has gone digital today!

The Goon: Chinatown and the Mystery of Mr. Wicker was made available today for purchase on iTunes for the iPhone platform. For a limited time, this graphic novel — which is Volume 6 in the comic book series — is on sale for only $1.99 (a major discount for a graphic novel!).

Also, for the next three days, The Goon #7 one-shot issue, which features Hellboy, as well as cover and framing sequences by Mike Mignola, is available as a FREE download from iTunes for use on the iPhone.
