It feels a bit strange, writing a review of Hellboy Winter Special 2019 when it is 72 degrees outside, but that’s Texas for you, make no mistake. Putting the hell in Hellboy, in my opinion. But, be that as it may, this is one amazing one-shot comic. In true Dark Horse fashion, everything is a bit darker and twisted than what most other comic companies produce. And that, my friends, is why I love almost everything they produce!

Comic Review: Jenny Finn #1

Jenny Finn #1
Written by Mike Mignola and Troy Nixey
Art by Troy Nixey
Colors by Dave Stewart
Cover by Mike Mignola
Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: November 15, 2017
Cover Price: $3.99
Lots of tentacles and creepy storylines are a big win in my book. Jenny Finn #1 delivers both with a healthy heap of mystery added for the hell of it. If anything, this particular Dark Horse comic book has an even heavier Lovecraftian feel to it than most of Mike Mignola‘s works.

Dark Horse Comics

Nothing brings to mind evil like the idea of Nazis. The righteous anger that flows at the mere mention of the name is true, especially in the world of Hellboy. Colors by Dave Stewart
Letters by Todd Klein
Cover by Dean Ormston and Dave Stewart
Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: March 29, 2017
Cover Price: $14.99
This one was new for me. I’m not sure how it has eluded me for so long, but I must admit that I am smitten. Black Hammer Volume 1: Secret Origins collects the first six issues of the series into one volume that tells a cohesive story all the while exploring what it is to be alone and yet together. This dilemma is the result of a sacrifice gone too far. Not to say that the group wasn’t grateful, just that isolation and protection does not always equal freedom.

Okay, first off, if I have to try to convince you to buy a comic that contains eight premiere issues for a measly six bucks then I might just have to reassess what I am doing here.
I have reviewed any number of these titles at different times and I cannot even begin to stress to you how great of a deal this is. Dark Horse Comics continues to amaze me with their marketing strategies. I can think of no better way to test out some new comics than with this compilation. Cullen Bunn is writing Conan! Okay, now that I got that out of the way, allow me to introduce you to Conan The Slayer #1. Being a life-long fan of everyone’s favorite Cimmerian, I always try to keep my eyes open for anything Conan. To be fair, I’ll read anything involving this character. But when it reads and feels just like something Robert E. Howard himself would have appreciated, then it’s really time to celebrate!
Keep on reading for more fanboy gushing and witty remarks!
