Recently we featured a preview of the new web-only series called Gemini Division (see NBC To Debut Sci-fi Web Series “˜Gemini Division’), starring Rosario Dawson and Justin Hartley.

Now the show has debuted on NBC and you can currently watch Files (episodes) #01 and #02 right here below.

I checked them out myself and they’re definitely worth a look. It’s an interesting new way to do a series; with a green screen look (one I wasn’t sure about at first, but it’s not bad looking so far) and a kind of Cloverfield vibe.

So far, both episodes have simply consisted of a succession of video transmissions via an iPhone-type device (remember, it’s the near-future) to an unknown friend or family member; these videos set the table. There’s a basic set up of Dawson and Hartley in Paris and some questions have arisen already; but knowing what we know from the shows description, you can pretty much figure out some of the answers.

NBC Universal has announced that August 18th will be the debut of their first online-only series titled Gemini Division, which stars Rosario Dawson (Clerks II, Deathproof) and Justin Hartley (Smallville). The show will be available on NBC.com and SCIFI.com, with new webisodes rolling out weekly. Webisodes will also be available weekly on VOD via Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, and DISH Network, in addition to EST (Electronic Sell-Through) via Amazon Unbox, Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE and Zune, NBC Mobile, and several online video portals.

Gemini Division is set a short time in the future and follows Anna Diaz (Dawson) who’s a NYC vice cop trying to figure out the mystery behind her murdered fiance when she stumbles upon a secret war between human and human creation. A few years back, the Government created a mass of simulated soldiers called SIMs to send to Iraq where they fought for two years. At some point, 217 of these SIMs went AWOL and an agency called Gemini Division was formed to find these soldiers and destroy them. The question is, can they stop them and how does Diaz fit into all of this?
