‘Godzilla 2’ Co-Writer Michael Dougherty Rumored To Be In Line To Also Direct
It was recently announced that Legendary Pictures had hired Krampus screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields to replace Max Borenstein on writing duties for the upcoming Godzilla 2.
This move was reportedly part of Legendary’s strategy to establish a creative brain trust that will chart the giant monster shared universe they have been developing at Warner Bros., with next March’s Kong: Skull Island set to be the next step in bringing the two iconic beasts together in a Godzilla vs. King Kong feature presently penciled in for a 2020 release.

‘Krampus’ Writing Team To Pen ‘Godzilla 2’
It has been a while since Godzilla 2 made news. Earlier this year, Gareth Edwards stepped away from the project after he and Legendary Pictures went their separate ways. Edwards has stated that he wanted to do something smaller after he’s done with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so stepping away from the Godzilla sequel would allow him to do that. Now with Warner Bros. setting up for Kong: Skull Island, they need to start developing Godzilla 2, which would eventually lead up to Godzilla vs King Kong.
It was two years ago that Max Borenstein was reportedly confirmed to write the sequel. Now the film will be getting new writers. According to a new report, Krampus writing duo Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields will now pen the script. More on the story below.

WB To Distribute ‘Godzilla 2,’ ‘Kong: Skull Island,’ Godzilla Vs. King Kong
The recent shakeup between Legendary and Universal Pictures has had a major effect on their partnership. According to a new report last week’s Kong: Skull Island move from Universal to Warner Bros. is a telling sign that there is a strain between the two parties.
But since Universal never officially entered production on Kong, it’s no skin off their back, and as a result of the move, WB has now signed a three-picture deal with Legendary that will have them distribute Skull Island, Godzilla 2, and the untitled Godzilla vs. King Kong film. More on the story below.

King Kong Vs. Godzilla Set Up As ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Moves To WB
Two legendary beasts are about to fight for the title of King of Monsters once more. King Kong and Godzilla are set to appear in an untitled mega monster showdown over at Warner Bros. According to a new report, Kong: Skull Island will now be moving from Universal Pictures over to WB, so that the production house can have a shared monster universe under one nice studio.
With Legendary already owning the rights to Godzilla, the move makes plenty of sense, but it doesn’t make it any less surprising since Universal is losing yet another major property so that their competition can create a shared universe. More on the story below.
