Harry Potter: Spells & Spells Free
iPhone, iPod Touch App
Warner Bros. Digital Distribution
Price: $2.99; Free
Even with the book series concluded and the two-part final film adaptation on the horizon, the Harry Potter multimedia franchise shows no signs of slowing down as evident with the new Spells and Spells Free apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Spells definitely focuses on giving those who download it a full Harry Potter experience, by signing your admissions letter to Hogwarts, choosing the correct wand, and having the Sorting Hat tell you which house you’re assigned. Only after completing all of this can you actually start exploring the menu. Predictably, the app allows fans to learn 17 different spells taught to wizards of Hogwarts, including Serpensortia, Stupefy, Incendio, and the Unforgivable Curse Avada Kedavra. The advantage of getting the paid app is that it comes with the first four spell packs ($0.99-each, total of $4), so you’re essentially getting a deal. After finishing the 7-year curriculum, users can then challenge the CPU to a duel or face real-life opponents online or right next to you.

| SDCC 2010: Preview Night Photos: The Walking Dead, Thor, Tron & More! Tonight was Preview Night at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, and yes, the Geeks of Doom crew was there in full-force.
Below are a bunch of photos we took from the convention floor. Of note was the Marvel booth, a massive area for sure, half taken up by a recreation of Odin’s Throne in Asgard from their upcoming film Thor (see the Thor movie still of Odin’s Throne HERE). There’s also a few shots of the Legendary Pictures booth, which showed off some costumes and props from The Dark Knight and Inception, as well as The Hangover (the pic from the latter film is truly a must-see). A show-stopper at the Con was definitely the areas set up for The Walking Dead TV show, coming soon to AMC, which had a house filled with bloodied corpses in it. Pretty cool.

If you are like me you have been enjoying the world of Harry Potter for a good long time. It’s hard to imagine a world where Harry and the gang don’t yet exist. For me it was a little sad when I finished the final book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, knowing that my journey with Harry had come to an end.
So, it is with that same kind of sadness that I present you with the world premiere trailer for the movie adaptation of the final book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, here below. Thankfully, the book is being split up into two movies, Part 1 and Part 2, which I think is the right move. The Deathly Hallows really felt like two separate books. Those of you that read it know what I’m talking about. I think it will be interesting to see that split. The trailer below features scenes from both movies, Part I which is will be released in November of 2010, and Part 2 in July of 2011. So go ahead check out the awesome sauce below then put on Chamber of Secrets and marvel at how young the actors all really were.

| Daniel Radcliffe To Follow-Up ‘Harry Potter’ With ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ Remake |
 |

Over the past ten years or so, we’ve basically watched the stars of the Harry Potter franchise grow up. From children to teens to young adults, we’ve watched, like a billion distant relatives who only see family once a year or less. One of the more oft-wondered aspects of this was whether these kids would be cursed to live out their days as Harry Potter typecasts, or if they had the talents and youth to move on to many other films, and construct impressive careers. They’ve already made more money than most would have a clue what to do with, so now it’s really all about legacy. The three main stars have all set themselves up nicely by doing smaller films and theatrical productions in between Potter films, but with the mega franchise’s filming all wrapped up, it’s time to set their future in motion. This begins with the announcement that Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star in a new remake of the World War I classic, All Quiet on the Western Front.

| MTV Movie Awards Trailers For ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Twilight,’ ‘Scott Pilgrim’ & ‘Last Airbender’ |
 |
In case you had not heard, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards aired last night. And in case you actually cared, they sucked as they have for the past five years or so… give or take and all that.
The problem with the awards is that they went from being cool to aiming at pre-teen kids as their audience far too much. Not only that, but then actually letting them vote, which leads to the most preposterous things you could possibly think of even nominating going on to take home the popcorn trophy and embarrassing true movie fans everywhere. Even so, each year usually brings at least one or two things worth mentioning, and some exciting new trailers to check out. This year, the big world premiere trailers shown were for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, The Last Airbender, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. If you’re excited about that last trailer, then you probably actually loved this year’s MTV Movie Awards, but because we try to love all of our readers as equally as possible, we wanted to show them all off. Click on over to the other side to check out all the trailers for yourself.
