| Geek Peek: Hagrid’s Hut At Universal’s ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ As the grand opening draws near for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the new theme park area at Universal Studios Orlando, another new image from the park has been released today.
The new image — see it here at right — is of Hagrid’s Hut. In the Harry Potter universe, Hagrid is the half-giant groundskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is a close confidant to boy wizard Harry Potter. Guests at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will pass by Hagrid’s Hut, which is a replica of Hagrid’s home from the films, on their way to the Flight of the Hippogriff coaster. You can see more of Hagrid’s Hut in a feature on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter during this Sunday’s episode of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is part of Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, will have its grand opening on June 18, 2010.

It’s time once again to see one of your favorite properties in the form of LEGO building blocks! Previously Star Wars, Batman and Indiana Jones have gotten the video game LEGO treatment and now it’s Harry Potter‘s turn. Check out the awesome opening cinematic for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 here below. An interactive retelling of Mr. Potter’s first four years at Hogwarts — in all, he spent seven years at the educational institution — TT Games’ LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will be available on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PSP this May.

| Geek Peek: Hogwarts Express At Universal’s ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ Universal has released a new image from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Harry Potter-themed section of Islands of Adventure, a theme park within the Universal Orlando Resort.
See the image here at right (click for larger, full view). The new image, which was taken today, is of the Hogwarts Express as it arrives at Hogsmeade Station. In the Harry Potter universe, the special train, which departs from King’s Cross railway station’s Platform 9 3/4, is what’s used to transport the young wizarding students to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The steam engine train will be what greets guests as they enter Hogsmeade at the Wizarding World area of the theme park, which is set to open this Spring. NOTE: For structural reasons and to ensure that this list is super-duper pretty at all times, we’ll be posting this same intro for all sections of The Decade List. If you’ve already read all of this, you can just head down to the continuation of our list!
Let’s just get it out of the way right off the ol’ bat: yes, we know it’s been month since we left the decade. Most folks undertook this heavy task pre-2010, but we decided that it would be a little bit better to let the new year settle in a bit before hitting you with something of this magnitude. So here we are, geeks: we’ve officially arrived in FUTURE *cue retro ’50s sci-fi music* and still we have no freakin’ flying cars yet. What’s the deal with that? While it is pretty exciting to be inside of the year 2010 — a year that always seemed unreachable to us mere mortals — we are also exiting another entire decade that leaves us staring at one majorly epic task. That task? To search, dig, locate, retrieve, organize, polish, and present the very best films of the past ten years!
