The Gold Box spotlight deal of the day over at Amazon today is Superhero Blu-ray Collection for only $79.95 (that’s 62% off the list price of $208.75).

This 8-disc Blu-ray boxed set includes seven major (and relatively recent) superhero action films from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment: Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy (Spider-Man / Spider-Man 2 / Two-Disc Spider-Man 3), Ghost Rider (Extended Cut), Hellboy (Director’s Cut), Underworld (Unrated), and Underworld Evolution.

That’s a nice pick of movies right there. Now let’s do the math: $79.95 divided by 7 movies is about $11.42 each. The Spider-Man blu-ray trilogy is selling for $49.99 on its own and the other films are much more than $12 each, so this is a pretty sweet deal for Blu-ray, and for major blockbuster titles on Blu-ray at that.

Several Neil Gaiman-related items are currently up for bids on eBay, with the proceeds going to the CBLDF charity.

The image at right is of two unrelated comic book characters together — Hellboy, drawn by Mike Mignola, and Sandman, drawn by Neil Gaiman. The drawing will be up on eBay for the next 20 hours or so.

Another charity item on eBay ending in less than a day is a sketch by Fables artist Mark Buckingham of Gaiman playing drums (and the author points out that while he does play instruments, drums is not one of them).

Hellboy comic creator/writer/artist Mike Mignola sat down with io9 and chatted about everything from Hellboy‘s comic future, other stuff he may be working on, and even what he thinks of this Twilight frenzy that’s going on.

Regarding the comic book Hellboyverse, Mignola will be working on a Lobster Johnson series, and is currently doing a 4-book arc of Hellboy which will permanently alters the title character, who, Mignola said, isn’t meant to live forever. Mignola also said he’ll be doing a Victorian occult detective series set in the Hellboy universe, plus some non-Hellboy stories, possibly more The Amazing Screw-On Head. The writer is also trying get a vampire movie off the ground.

The subject of vampires came up when Mignola was asked about his thoughts onTwilight, to which he explained how while his daughter loved it, it really wasn’t his thing. He’s an old-school vampire fan, which lead him to a book he’s done that he’s trying to turn into a movie called Baltimore, Or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire.

Recently, MTV asked Hellboy creator Mike Mignola whether there would be a Hellboy III and what the story would be about. This question spawns from a statement made by movie director Guillermo del Toro, who said that, “The third one would be facing your destiny, if such a thing exists, and making the ultimate decision.”

This creates a problem though, for Mignola, who hasn’t actually finished writing his creator-owned comic book series. “The problem is, what del Toro’s talked about to me is that “˜Hellboy III’ would be the end of Hellboy,” Mignola said. “And here’s where we have the big conflict. My version of Hellboy in the comics is a finite story, but it’s going to take me 15 years to get to the ending. If he makes “˜Hellboy III’ and it’s the death of Hellboy, I’m left doing the comic going, “˜But I’m not done yet.'”
