| ‘Logan’s Dark Tone Worried 20th Century Fox Execs
At some point, the X-Men franchise needed to take a gamble. On the surface, Deadpool was risky. But the film turned out to be such a huge success, it gave Twentieth Century Fox the confidence they needed to approve of James Mangold‘s Logan, the first R-rated Wolverine film to be released theatrically. Releasing a third installment of the Wolverine franchise was always a part of the studio’s plan. So in order to give Hugh Jackman a proper send-off, Mangold wanted the film to be deeply personal. Based on what we have seen throughout the marketing campaign, it looks like he accomplished that goal. But that isn’t to say that the new direction didn’t worry studio execs. In fact, some were concerned about the film’s tonal shift. More on the story below.

| Hugh Jackman Explains Why ‘Logan’ Is In A “Slightly Different Universe”
It’s hard enough to figure out the X-Men film continuity without factoring in the First Class trilogy, and its attempt to reset the timeline with Days of Future Past. But with spinoffs like Wolverine and Deadpool existing within the same universe, the filmmakers have to be conscious of the events of other films. That may hinder the creative process for some, but for James Mangold‘s Logan, he is sidestepping all of that, so to speak, by creating an alternate timeline. While that may be confusing to some, Hugh Jackman believes Mangold had a very good reason for making that decision. Check out what the both of them had to say below.

| Hugh Jackman May Be Rethinking Wolverine Retirement
Hugh Jackman has made it no secret that he intends to put away his adamantium claws for good after Logan, the third installment of the Wolverine X-Men spinoff franchise. The actor has played the character in a total of nine films over the past seventeen years. That’s some major dedication. So while the end is inevitable, there was some hope that he would reconsider, especially since there was a rumor that Deadpool was going to cameo in Logan. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Logan director James Mangold were quick to shoot those rumors down, but Reynolds and Jackman have enjoyed throwing social media jabs at each other, that the two sharing the same screen would make for a great movie. Now new interviews with the actors reveal that there is a very slim chance that it could happen. Check out what Reynolds and Jackman had to say below.
