FROZEN 2

Frozen 2
Director: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
Writer: Jennifer Lee
Cast: Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Sterling K. Brown, Evan Rachel Wood, Alfred Molina, Martha Plimpton, Jason Ritter, Rachel Matthews, Jeremy Sisto, Santino Fontana, Ciarán Hinds, Alan Tudyk
Distributor: Walt Disney Studios
Rated PG | Minutes: 103
Release Date: November 22, 2019

Even six years after its release, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen never stopped being a magical phenomenon as it continued on to thrive with its animated short Frozen Fever and its made-for-TV special Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. While both were fun expansions on the franchise, they weren’t really the deep dives into the original film’s characters or mythology that we would expect to see. Though Frozen 2 is not as narratively strong as the first, it is a rare Disney-animated musical sequel that is still a force to be reckoned with because of its emphasis on character development and continuing to echo the themes of female empowerment, while pushing the boundaries in its music and visuals. My full review of Frozen 2 here below.

Frozen 2

A few months ago, Geeks of Doom joined fellow journalists on a trip through Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA to get a sneak peek at their upcoming and highly anticipated animated feature Frozen 2. We already shared what we learned in terms of what to expect to see in the sequel, along with the new characters and the new worlds that they will meet and see, and what exactly goes into a ballad like “Into the Unknown.”

Now we are ready to share another piece with you, which takes a look at the bond of sisterhood that is shared between Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel). The theme of sisterhood played a huge role in the first Frozen, as it took a look at the bonds between the two. Although Anna was able to bring out Elsa from her self-imposed exile, Frozen 2 will explore how strong that bond is as Elsa journeys into the unknown to discover the voice that has been calling out to her.

Check out more on how the themes of sisterhood relate to fairy tales, myths, and more below.

Frozen 2

“Into The Unknown” is just one of seven songs that will be featured in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming Frozen 2. Sung by Idina Menzel, it is an extraordinary ballad that is paired with a stunning sequence that is perfectly choreographed and staged. We got a small one-look sample of the sequence during the D23 Expo, where it was met with a huge amount of applause.

During our recent sneak preview of Frozen 2, Geeks of Doom and a select group of journalists learned about what goes into making a visually stunning musical sequence, including the costumes, hair design, effects, and more.

Check out how visual development artists, the story team, music producers, the animation team, and what the effects artists had to say about what it takes to put a musical sequence together below.

FROZEN 2

Elsa (Idina Menzel) may be an ice queen, but she rules her kingdom with a warm heart. In Frozen 2, her powers are put to the test when an enchanted forest awakens and endangers the kingdom of Arendelle. In order to save it, she, along with Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Gross), and Olaf (Josh Gad), must embark on an incredibly dangerous journey into the unknown where they will encounter new elemental creatures and possibly discover the answers to why does Elsa have powers.

Geeks Of Doom joined a group of journalists for a rare opportunity of a sneak peek of Frozen 2 to learn about how the research process plays a huge part in expanding the world of Frozen, as well as adding new characters based off native folklores, fairy tales, and more.

Check out what sort of elements come in to play and how they will be an intricate part of the sequel.

FROZEN 2

Frozen 2 was a four-year process in the making. In the past few years, the cast and crew have kept the worldwide phenomenon alive by working on various shorts like Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. But now co-director and writer Jennifer Lee, co-director Chris Buck, and producer Peter Del Vecho, along with the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad all return for the long-awaited sequel of the beloved animated musical.

Geeks Of Doom joined a group of journalists for a rare opportunity of a sneak peek of Frozen 2 to learn all about why Walt Disney Animation Studios returned to Arendelle and what it takes to make a sequel happen.

Over the next few weeks leading up to the release of the highly anticipated sequel, we will be sharing what we saw from the sneak preview, including a look at the new characters that will appear, how to build a musical ballad, and the new story arcs for Anna and Elsa. But before all of that, we will share what Lee, Buck, and Del Vecho had to say about the sequel, the research they did, working with Oscar-winners Bobby and Kristen Lopez, the new characters that you will meet, and more.
