Batman: The Brave and The BoldBatman: The Brave and The Bold
Season One, Part Two
DVD
Starring: Diedrich Bader, John DiMaggio, Will Friedle, James Arnold Taylor
Warner Home Video
Released date: March 15, 2011

Finally, the second part of Batman: The Brave and The Bold Season One has hit store shelves, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Previously, I mentioned how much I love this show, but my love for the show didn’t really develop until the second half of season one. This is really when the show came on my radar, so I’m excited to finally get my hands on this DVD.

This DVD set features some incredibly awesome team ups and voice acting that will make any geek’s heart beat just a little faster. Some of the dream teams that we see are Batman teamed up with Etrigan The Demon, and Sherlock Holmes in “Trials of the Demon!”, Batman and a depressed Aquaman in “Mystery in Space!”, and an AWESOME team up featuring Bat-Mite in “Legends of the Dark Mite!”, which is just as crazy as it sounds. Also, in this season we have the legendary appearance of Neil Patrick Harris in the musical episode, “Mayhem of the Music Meister!”, which is just as awesome as it sounds.

Geeks of Doom's Exclusive Coverage of SDCC 2009

Deidrich Bader at SDCC 09It seems like sometimes you find yourself at some weird panels when you’re waiting around for other ones you really want to go to, which is how I ended up in the panel for Batman: The Brave & the Bold, the animated series running on Cartoon Network.

Boy, am I glad I ended up there, because I was able to see a premiere episode that knocked my socks off, and that I think you’ll enjoy too. The episode is titled “Mayhem of the Music Meister” and features Neil Patrick Harris as the Music Meister, an evil musician who takes control of the heroes and villains and makes them sing. The music in the episode was genius, and the end of the episode was greeted by a standing ovation from the audience. When this episode airs, you too can see Aquaman dancing with Gorilla Grodd! Trust me, I fell in love with this show based on this episode. If you love musicals, if you love Batman, you will really get a kick out of this episode.

Aside from seeing this premiere, the audience was treated to a fun discussion by the creators and voice actors. It was awesome to see Deidrich Bader (Batman), John Dimaggio (Aquaman), and James Arnold Taylor (Green Arrow) act out the voices. One young audience member addressed Bader as Batman, at which point Bader responded in full Batman voice.

Rated PG

Star Wars: The Clone Wars … and Why I Loved It!

In light of the fact that seemingly everywhere around me, critics were panning Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I went into the movie with low hopes. This was in direct contrast to 24 hours earlier, where I was eagerly anticipating the movie, and getting to see it before the majority of the world. But in that short time that early reviews appeared, and then were embargoed by LucasFilm, my hopes dropped.

I don’t know whether it was the fact my hopes were so low, or if it was just in fact a good film, but I really liked Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

But let’s get a few things sorted straight off the bat, ok? First of all, this is not a movie where peace can be found. The entire galaxy is at war, and if you look at the title of the movie, it says that it’s going to be about the war. Take a look back through movies like Saving Private Ryan, Battle of the Bulge, and The Longest Day. These movies were filled with action scene after action scene, and no one complained about it then. Why? Because they realized that in war, that’s what happens!
