The BFG image 01

Steven Spielberg reunites with his Bridge of Spies star Mark Rylance for an adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s children’s classic, The BFG. Rylance didn’t get as much screen time as his fellow Spies co-star Tom Hanks, but he stole plenty of scenes with his strong performance. And now we will be able to see what he can do when he shares the screen with newcomer Ruby Barnhill for a much bigger role as the titular character.

In the film, Barnhill plays a little girl who appears to be the only one in her orphanage who can see and speak to the title monstrous giant, who will take her the mysterious Giant Country. Take a peek at the very first look at Disney’s The BFG below.

What We Do In The Shadows

“The Humans Are Dead” is not just a Flight of the Conchords song. Really, the humans are actually dead…well, technically undead. New Zealand’s Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, Eagle vs. Shark) and Taika Waititi (Eagle vs. Shark, Boy) have created a “vampire documentary” called What We Do In The Shadows and they believe “the truth about vampires must be told in America.”

This award-winning independent film, which we got to see a trailer for back in December, is now in New Zealand, but Clement and Waititi are raising funds on Kickstarter to bring it to 70 cities in the United States.

What happened to Will Smith? There was a time (1997) when Smith made great, entertaining popcorn movies, but those days, it seems, are over. Since the back-to-back successes of Independence Day, Men in Black, and Enemy of the State, Smith’s filmography has been comprised of less hits and more misses: I, Robot, I Am Legend, Hancock, and his most recent film, 2008’s Seven Pounds, just to name a few.

After such a slump of underwhelming movies, it makes perfect sense for Will Smith to revisit the Men in Black franchise, even if 2002’s Men in Black II was entirely disappointing. On the topic of revisiting previous films, let’s take a moment to review Will Smith’s credits, as well as his upcoming projects:

Hancock 2, Bad Boys 3, I, Robot 2. Seriously? C’mon Fresh Prince, you’re better than that! Let’s hurry up and get this movie review started before someone green-lights Wild West West 2

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black III reunites Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as Agents J and K, members of a top-secret government agency tasked with protecting the Earth from the scum of the universe.

Alec Baldwin, Sharlto Copley, Gemma Arterton All In Talks For ‘Men In Black 3’

A trio of new stars are reportedly in negotiations to join Barry Sonnenfeld‘s Men in Black III, the third installment in the mega franchise that began in 1997.

According to sources, 30 Rock star and “single greatest actor of all time” Alec Baldwin, District 9 and The A-Team‘s Sharlto Copley, and Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time actress Gemma Arterton are all said to be in negotiations with Sony for roles in the new movie.

If all goes well, Baldwin will play the man who runs MiB back in 1969, the year that star Will Smith will be traveling back to in order to save a young K (Josh Brolin) from Yaz (Jemaine Clement), a nasty alien who’s been sent back in time Terminator style to take K out and ensure the destruction of Earth…if plot details we’ve heard are accurate, that is.
