Kickstarter and other crowdfunding options changed the game, offering an entirely new option for filmmakers, video game developers, comic book creators, and many others to bring their dream projects to life with money from those who are interested in the content instead of money from controlling bodies that might force creative changes.
As the concept of crowdfunding continues to evolve, those who use it often find new and unique ways to take advantage of it. One example of this is Tex Montana Will Survive, the latest movie from the makers of the micro-budget zombie flick The Battery (read our review here). Unlike most crowdfunding projects, co-directors Jeremy Gardner (who also stars) and Christian Stella aren’t looking to Kickstarter to acquire the funds to go into production on their new movie. In fact, it’s already 100% made. Instead, they’re thinking outside the box and looking to release the movie to everyone who wants to watch it for free if the goal is met. Yes, you read that correctly.
