Amazon Studios has released a trailer for Gringo, an upcoming movie starring David Oyelowo (Selma, The Butler), Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde), Joel Edgerton (Bright, Black Mass), Amanda Seyfried (Les Misérables, Mean Girls), Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team), Hernán Mendoza (After Lucia, The Perfect Dictatorship), Thandie Newton (Westworld, Crash), Harry Treadaway (Honeymoon, The Lone Ranger), Alan Ruck (Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, Speed), and Kenneth Choi (The Wolf of Wall Street, Spider-Man: Homecoming). The film is directed by Joel’s brother Nash Edgerton (The Square), and written by Anthony Tambakis (Warrior, Jane Got A Gun) and Matthew Stone (Life, Intolerable Cruelty). Gringo follows a pharmaceutical executive who’s sent on a business trip to Mexico. Things do not go well. Not at all. It’s a big budget project, directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch) and featuring an impressive cast which includes Will Smith (Bad Boys, Men in Black), Joel Edgerton (Black Mass, Warrior), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus), Edgar RamÃrez (Deliver Us from Evil, Wrath of the Titans), Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad, Neighbors), Lucy Fry (11.22.63, Mr. Church), Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva, One Missed Call), and Jay Hernandez (Hostel, Suicide Squad). It’s a movie you’d expect to see opening in theaters everywhere…if any big Hollywood studios would ever actually greenlight such a strange concept. | Watch The Trailer For ‘Red Sparrow’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence
The latest from Darren Aronofsky, mother!, starring Jennifer Lawrence arrives in theaters this week. But it’s not the only Lawrence movie coming soon. Early next year comes a movie titled Red Sparrow, which stars Lawrence as a ballerina who, after a serious injury, ends up in a school which trains its students to use their bodies and minds as weapons.
